Had my test ride on the 1200 GS yesterday and it was Bloody great. Took it on both open road and twisty's and could not believe how well it handled and performed, it certainly out performed the 1200 bandit and would give my old R1 or 916 a decent run for their money. It felt a little light on the front end but I soon got used to it. The Indicators were a nightmare, but after an hour I started to come to terms with them.

Now for the problem, I have six points but worse still two claims due to theft in the past three years (if you live or work in Jesmond Newcastle, never leave your bike) Carole Nash have to speak to the underwriters as do the BMW insurance people so fingers crossed for monday when they will get back to me. If anyone knows of any other companies I can contact please let me know.

Cheers
Steve

Bezzer provides a link to H&R's website.

They have found insurance for a number of friends and acquaintances with special circumstances.

Cheers, I will give them a call today and let you know how I get on.

Thanks
Steve

Alltho I'm not with them at the moment, avisinsurance.co.uk have given me and my girlfriend best quotes on GSX-R's ZXR's and all other strange bikes. :)

Good luck!

I know that this sounds daft but I'm still with the Ducati Scheme, with my GS.

They insure other bikes and were my cheapest quote!

£820 is th cheapest so far(Carole nash). Most wont touch me because of the cost of the bike and I've had two thefts in the past 3 years. What really boils my p*ss is that prior to that I had not had a claim in 20 years, I feel like a victim twice over. Once at the hands of the thieving toe rags and secondly at the hands of the insurance companies. If I'd had two reckless crash claims it might not have felt so bad.

Still I'm going to keep ringing around and I,ve ordered the bike on the strength of the £820 quote. Due back end of april, cant wait.

£335 - company owned bike, I year NCB, Fully comp inclu business use.

3 points speeding!

Mind you I'm 50!:beerjug:

BMWs own scheme for me, £208 fully comp. It was over £100 cheaper than the best price from Carole Nash.

Although it is their scheme it is actually through one of the general bike insurers, cant remeber which one. Will look it up tonight.

I use H&R - very pleased. Usually use one of the other prices to lever them down at renewal.

To add the R1200 GS to my existing R1100RT policy is costing £60.00 from now until November (renewal date). Helps that I live in what I believe is the second lowest Post Code for insurance. Next years premium assuming two bikes £260.00 includes full European RAC cover.
