Test ride tommorrow.

Hello,

Taking both a GS and a GSA for a test ride tommorrow.

Anything I should look out for other than other vehicles

Seriously anything that people tend to love or hate or that some people can't take to.

Planned a nice route for each. 1hour ish. Motorways, A Roads, twisty b roads and inner town stuff.

Think its an idea to get an idea of what to look for so its not just an hour of cruising.

When I first test rode mine I found an hour wasnt enough although after 5 mins I knew I wanted it. I have never had a BMW previous to my 1200GS so the things that are quirky are the indicators and clunky gearbox. I have had an issue with the battery but I dont think anything will spoil my opinion of the best loved bike of all.

i would go for longer 3 hours on each if you can and get a really good feel of each bike. and you will then know is the riding position right which has the better seat, do i really want to be playing with the weight of the extra tank space is it 2 low to high all the normal stuff.

You are paying a lot of money make sure you get the right one

oh one last thing ask them prior to you turning up if both bikes can be fully fueled up to see the difference in weight and promise to bring them both back fueled up.

Why not just go ride 'em no preconcieved ideas no niggles and see what you think,make up your own mind.If you like,you like if not then not.If ya want more time arrange it with the dealer.Thats wot I think anyway.

It does have "adventure" in its name....well one of them does anyway. Just hope the dealer isn't a no abs stalwart!

Yeah, 1 hours doesn't seem like a lot. But this is a quick ride - more to check the dealer out against competition than anything.

Not that worried as I have another all day test ride on a GSA at another dealer next weekend as well Then I'll really give it some testing.

GS or GSA

"....clunky gearbox." Not with the 2008 model. If you think you will need the extra fuel or you want to look more impressive, go for the GSA - but you will be well satisfied with either. The latest models are little changed but the lower drive ratio has made it even better at low speeds.

Yeah it was very nice, spoke to the salesman and after much "can I do that..oh yes I can - need to hit november sales target" he's offered e £1000 of list price.

Basically new GSA with Dynamic + Premium + Alarm. I'll do some phoning as I believe there is some leeway in that price. Its a nice starting point shall we say.

Tell him that the alarm is useless and your insurance company won't reduce your premium at all as a result (true?) so knock off the price of the alarm ....for a start.

Thanks for that, I Wondered that.

I asked for the alarm to be added as I thought that it would bring the premiums down by at least the alarm price.

I've still got to do some numbers on the price of insurance to decide.

If you are a serious buyer then I would snap the dealers hand off for a £1000 discount, I personally haven't heard of a dealer giving that much discount on a GS/GSA before.

Shop around by all means but I for one would be very surprised if you can get more than that anywhere else.

It never hurts to ask But it is a good deal.

The worst they can say is no.
