and liked it! :thumb2

Been increasingly thinking of changing to a 1200 Multistrada recently after a test ride a few months ago reminded me that bikes can be exciting!

Before I made any hard fast decision I needed to test ride the twin cam 1200 GSA to see how it compared.

First off the exhaust note is quite fruity on the GSA, sounds much better stock than my 09 does with an Akra fitted :nenau

Also liked the increase in low down torque and I thought it made the bike easier to ride with snappier overtakes possible.

Hate the 2011 colours though so will probably wait till next years come out, or look for a low mileage Anniversary model

OLY is selling a nice low mileage anniversary model:thumb

Im in the same position at the moment my sports bike is up for sale and thinking dohc gsa but im leaning towards the multistrada because of extra power and that dreaded final drive failure of the gsa although i love the look of the gsa i think theres a triple black colour coming which is nice.

Saw a couple of used MTS yesterday in the local stealer, they wanted top dollar for year old bikes - on the plus side they were barely run in!

I tried a twin cam also thinking it would be no differnt, but was mighty impressed instead.
It is just snappier & more punchy than my old GS, and will be my next bike for sure! :thumb2

I went to view a 4-month 11-plate Multistrada at Rochdale Honda on Saturday and the fasteners, both axles, rear shock absorber and most plated parts were corroded :blast Even my wife, who loves riding pillion but has no mechanical knowledge and really wanted to buy a MS, was disgusted at it's condition and has blacklisted Ducati - it hadn't even seen a full winter

So, the Twincam is back on the cards as we liked the extra mid-range punch for quick overtakes and we know the rest of the package works for us.

Gonna wait until after the bike show though to see the new Honda Crosstourer and (I assume) Triumph Tiger 1200 before making a decision though

Apparently the Triumph won't be in showrooms until 2014, and the Honda is still not officially going to be built, but I am hoping it will be available by Spring 2013 as that is the latest I want to wait for a new bike.

The Honda should have pretty decent build quality and be reliable and cheap to service, just hopes it is as good a package as the GS and comes with luggage you really can tour two-up with.

The MTS luggage looks a bit small for me, and servicing costs / reliability on a Ducati is not likely to be much better than a GS.

The sales guy at Rochdale Honda said the Crosstourer was definitely out next year

My Honda dealer reckons it ain't even been comfirmed the bike will be released, but he said Honda tell them nothing until the last minute.

If it is gonna be in showrooms next spring they will almost certainly debut it at one of the Autumn bike shows.

I took an RT out last week for a demo. Three hours later and I didn't honestly find much real difference. OK, I've been off the boxer since flogging the 12GS and I would have rather taken out the GS demo (but it was booked), so I guess I'll just have to try the new GS in the near future. Loved the cruise control on the RT tho'.

Bought a 2010 RT last year after test riding the new MTS1200S Touring and not liking it (I had a MTS1000 for five years so I was expecting great things).

I'd agree that the MTS1200 is a lot faster than an R1200, but overall I didn't rate it very highly at all. Very uncomfortable and the suspension was very choppy.

Finish wise I never thought the Ducati was poor so long as you look after it. If you neglect it then one winter would be enough to make it look shabby. BMW is a lot better in that respect.

I thought the Various was the bees knees? :D

Funny that as I thought exactly the opposite. I was dead set on the new Multi but having ridden the RT with the new motor I'm back in indecisive mode:confused:

I though the new motor was loads more punchy and begged for a good thrashing. So much more character:thumb. Whereas the Ducati is almost to powerful. I sort of agree with the saying that when in nutter mode, "the amount of fun you have is directly in line with the time spent at wide open throttle". And the Duc being that fast means it's always going to want to out perform you whereas the GS has the better overall handling performance balance for non Valentino Rossi's.

I could give the new GS a right seeing too on a regular basis whereas if I tried that on the Multi I'd be dead very quickly.

I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure:blast

Sure is. :thumb2 When I got back on the V, I knew I didn't need such a lardy big bike. Besides, with a free six month subscription to (BIKE) magazine at BM's expense, why wouldn't I. :thumb

huh?? flip - im on my way up :D

In fact cancel that as with 6points they wont give me a loan /demo bike :blast

Got offered a decent p/ex price for my 59 plate GSA today

Dunno what to do, I love my current bike but will I love a twin cam more??

As I've just paid off my bike maybe its best to enjoy the extra cash every month for a while??
