Tested the twin cam today.......

Got offered a decent p/ex price for my 59 plate GSA today

Dunno what to do, I love my current bike but will I love a twin cam more??

As I've just paid off my bike maybe its best to enjoy the extra cash every month for a while??

One life live it!! If you can do it you won't regret it ,if not there will be plenty available in the future ,but money in the bank is doing nothing at the momment may as well waste it :D:thumb2

Bought new GS Adventure couple of weeks ago and now know what i have been missing. Love the exhaust noise wife can hear it a way off and puts on kettle for a cuppa when i get back. The engine is punchy, responsive and very smooth. Cant recommend it enough. My mate has 09 GSA and rode new one on demo. He is very certain of buying a new one in the near future.

I have tested the twin cam (currently have a 09 GSA) and think that whilst it definitely is "better" for me its not a "must have" upgrade particularly given the cost of these things. Im quite happy with my current bike and intend to put some decent miles on it, wont be rushing for my wallet just yet!

Whilst the differences were noticeable I didn't feel they were exactly night and day - no doubt I will change to a twin cam but am in no tearing hurry to do so, all in good time and in the natural course of events/trade ins.....

Ive had the twin cam in its first incarnation in my HP2 sport and there is no doubt its a more expensive (due to its complexity) engine to maintain - major top end work required at 30k for example.

Just my .02p worth :thumb2

coming from only sports bikes for the last 29 years i think im going to opt for the multi i test rode one last week and it was awsome it still gives me that sports bike buzz which i still need at the moment ive test rode the last gsa model non dohc and liked it comfort wise but it was just to slow for me the dohc is only 10 bhp more so i cant see it satisfying my needs at the moment maybe a water cooled one in a couple of years horses for courses.

I'd give the new GS a go if I were you. It may be only 10hp up on the previous model but there's a lot more character/ eagerness in the new engine. OK it's never gonna be a match for the Multi for outright grunt but it does seem to enjoy a good thrashing.

it's only 5hp up on the previous model ;)

...but it does definitely like to be caned :)

The only buzz you're gonna get on ANY of the GSs will be through the handlebars :augie

I thought there was little in it, may be intriugued to try again now I am familiar with my own '08 model.

But for outright power / speed not a lot more on offer than before, maybe as an upgrade from another GS it is a nice improvement, but compared to an MTS no contest - and the MTS chain should outlast a GS FD :hide

Considering how corroded the four month old 11-plate MTS I looked at last weekend was, I think MTS chain would probably outlast the rest of the bike by some margin if you kept it lubed :D
