It's hard to beat a new tent day......
The tent is up in 5 minutes max. It's really easy.A great watch mate, thank you! Glad Ian got his beer
How long do these sort of tents take to put up/take down?! I'm keen to try solo camping but I'm not sure I have the patience for battling with a tent after 5+ hours riding!
Nice one Pete. I'll keep that in mind. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff to check out. That road's been closed for a while now. I wondered if it might still be passable. I ken noo!
If heading for Dunning, it's worth a stop at the church there to have a look at the Dupplin Cross and a bit further to the west there's the Maggie Wall Witch monument which is actually a hoax concocted by someone back in the day. Some of the stuff folk leave on it and the stuff they've written make an interesting stop though.
I tend to leave just long enough between my camping trips, to forget exactly how to put the tent up. Having 2 diferent tents does not help, either. The tent is up in 5 minutes max. It's really easy.

Aye, it's the Kaitum 2. I'm really happy with it.Is that the Kaitum 2 , with the footprint Mike ?? - ,,,, asking as my Hilliberg Nallo 2 GT is about due for replacement ,,, it owns me nothing as I have used it for many years on lots of trips , and it needs work ( new interior zip ) but the Hilliberg repair agent over in Musselburgh wouldn’t do it as they say it is not worth fixing![]()

I can only add pull down on the pole straps and loosen them before taking it down again!I can get my Kaitum 3 GT pitched within 5 mins.
You will probably think I’m talking shite but I can assure you, with all the parts on the ground it’s very quick.
4 marked poles through their colour coded sleeves ( the far side of the poles go into integral “ feet “ so no need to do anything ) put the near side pole ends into their cups, peg the one end out with 2 tent pegs, grab the other end and walk backwards until it’s up. Put two pegs in that end and job done.
You can quickly walk round then and put pegs in the pole ends and put the guy lines up.
The inner and outer pitch in one. And pack away as one. Very handy if it’s raining.
Mega easy.![]()
