Used lots of stuff over the years of winter riding and now a new bike for winter means I need a new textile suit (usual jeans/canvas jacket combo won't cut it in January).
So, bit of advice please. One thing I've learned is that stuff that has a waterproof inner/membrane is basically shit. Had various and all wetted out in proper weather so even if you're technically dry, you feel wet and cold.
probably gonna try to find another Bikers suit - my old one lasted three winters and was brilliant, but they're hard to track down in proper sizes. Best thing about it was Cordura/Gore-Tex mix so it was just bloody waterproof, like my old mid-range Rukka stuff.
Q is, do folk know of other similar options without going mad, money-wise? Halversonns?
Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

I've got a jacket/trouser combo made be Rev'It called the Horizon. It has the waterproof membrane laminated to the inside of the outside layer if that makes sense (like Goretex Pro shell) and doesn't wet out.

I bought it specifically to avoid the problem you are having. Work were getting a bit upset when my Hein Gericke gear was hung up and continued to drip for an hour or so due to all the water it had retained. I was always dry and the Goretex did its job, but as you say it doesn't stop you getting cold or wetting the floor when you return from your ride.

I can thoroughly recommend it. They also do the trousers in 3 leg lengths although not many people advertise it so you have to ask.

A jacket with any kind of waterproof membrane is going to have restricted breathing properties. I find them a bit sweaty when the sun comes oot.
I've tried allsorts and keep coming back to ......a jacket....and.....a waterproof over-jacket.

Old fashioned I know - but if it aint broke.....

Had my HG Master V jacket for 6 years now through winters/summers etc. and two trips to Russia.

Just sent it away to LSR for a zip repair, so I can keep it going as there's nothing out there that can touch it :) Wash twice a year with Tech Wash and Tech Direct...jobs a goodun :beerjug:

Well, got sorted but not in the way I expected. Picked up the Sprint ST 1050 on Saturday and was hunting about the Triumph dealer's kit section. Came across a set of waterproof leathers. Long story short I bought them as they did a great deal on the and, given the bike, I fancied the extra protection of leathers. Wore them on a long ride down to Devon and they're great - kept the water out, comfy, warm and, God forbid, properly fitted in the event of the worst happening. £460 the lot, which is a good textile jacket.

Excellent kit. Wear your old stuff and when it begins to rain, pull a set of these on. Breathable and really waterproof, cheap and as light as a feather. BMW street cred - zero, but who cares about that?

Do you get them direct off the US site? No indication as to postage charges?

Have given up on US stuff. Last three bits for my Guzzi cafe racer project have been held by customs and I've had to pay import charges then "release fees" on top to get them delivered. Sometimes this is a shitty little island.
