TFT Display Software Version

It took the better part of 3 hours according to the staff, which is sadly normal for this update(TFT unit), and it can even be longer as it sometimes fail and needs to be restarted (happened to my bike). Had to book and appt. as this is obviously not a pop in quick fix kind of deal.

I'm not sure the fuel range bug is fixed with this update, or if another update was pushed to the ECU at the same time tho... BMW are not exactly straightforward when it comes to what they update and for what reason.... In any case they should be able to hook your bike to their computer and determine what needs to be updated on yours.

The update process shouldn’t take anywhere that length of time, the dealers must hate spending all that time doing it - do BMW pay them 3 hours labour time, I doubt it - that would be a big cost if they had to do a large number of bikes and very inconvenient at this time of the year.

The process is largely unattended, I doubt they can bill the mothership for the full duration of the process. That said, it hogs space in the garager and the update computer, and must still be checked periodically in case of issue... Yeah I bet they are not super stoked with this mess...

My bike, is only a few weeks old and went back yesterday for a TFT update

Apparently that'll make a difference. I'm still delighted to have a speedo I can read, easily pleased

Not keen if it was me, I would sling the bike back at them, fix it or keep it, really very simple................but then I do not have TFT and do not want it............ long live NAV6 what says Nutty...............

They didn't seem to mind doing it, they were apologetic that it hadn't been completed during the first service.

TFT - Helmet intercom connection

Did you get any kind of intercom connected to the TFT , that is functioning properly with phone answering ? I have both phone and helmet connected but no sound is coming in , (1200 GS RALLYE with Interphone Urban )

Offered it free along with an update to a TE model , told BMW UK to FRO, was going to say more sh*t to go wrong when the bike gets older ........................... more like just more sh*t to go wrong (full stop)

It’s no more likely to fail than all the other electronics on the TE model so you may as well have it if it’s free of charge - the display is lovely and very easy to read - the main issue with it is the excessively long software update times.

No, too busy riding it at present - I will drop the bike of at the dealer one weekday morning and see if I can get a loan bike for the rest of the day, not practical to have it done at a weekend.

My update was done during its first (free of course) service.... Was NO issue Whatsoever... My dealer worked around me.

Everyone is making such a mountain out of this!!!

While I was away in France, 1000 miles, the screen was FAULTLESS, extremely good at everything I needed from it, as basic as they were.

And it connected to my Sena 20s headset every time with NO issue at all. Even stopping and restarting at petrol stations.

I was able to play music, talk to my fellow Sena mates, initiate the odd phone call.......

.....and, check this out, see my speed EXTREMELY clearly!!!!
