It took the better part of 3 hours according to the staff, which is sadly normal for this update(TFT unit), and it can even be longer as it sometimes fail and needs to be restarted (happened to my bike). Had to book and appt. as this is obviously not a pop in quick fix kind of deal.
I'm not sure the fuel range bug is fixed with this update, or if another update was pushed to the ECU at the same time tho... BMW are not exactly straightforward when it comes to what they update and for what reason.... In any case they should be able to hook your bike to their computer and determine what needs to be updated on yours.
The update process shouldn’t take anywhere that length of time, the dealers must hate spending all that time doing it - do BMW pay them 3 hours labour time, I doubt it - that would be a big cost if they had to do a large number of bikes and very inconvenient at this time of the year.
