Just found out another "glitch" on my TFT, besides the one about ECO mode I've mentioned before in another thread.
The book says, if you want to check if your oil level is" OK" or not on "Vehicle Information", you have to ride a bike and then stop with engine hot, keep it leveled, feet down, no side or center stand applied, engine running on idle for 20 seconds.
Well I've done all of that. Rode my bike for one hour, stopped and let it idle for 2 minutes waiting for level indicator to show OK. But I've got nothing. Just "--" on oil indication.
Am I doing something wrong or I've just discovered another problem?
Thanks

You’ve discovered another problem. I’d go back to the dealer and ask them to put the things right. You can always check the oil through the sight glass but that’s not the point.

The oil indicator seems to be a bit like the 'stop/start' set up on a car and so many things have to be just right for it to kick in. My oil indicator does work but only on certain occasions, so as long as I have oil I just accept that it will only work when all of the conditions are met. My local 'technician' confirmed this was the case but I could have been fobbed off of course :0

My oil TFT indicator has always worked as it should on my 2020.

My 2021 appears to work fine, I've looked at that screen a couple of times to check the information and always shows OK.

I like the gadgetry but as said have a quick look the old fashioned way. And yes, if it doesn't work get the dealer to take a look.

I've looked a couple of times and get the same read out as the OP so just use the old method now if I want to check my oil level. If it was that reliable they'd remove the sight glass.:nenau

I've just discovered why I couldn't see the oil level indication. I tried to check it many times after a ride, when I park in my spot in garage. To get to my spot I have to go down very steep ramp. So I would park and let the bike idle while sitting on it, keeping it straight with no side stand applied. No metter how long I waited, the indication always showed "--" with white oil sign.
Today I tried something different, just out of curiosity. I've ridden for 30 miles and then stopped on the shoulder of leveled road. Let it idle and in less the 10 seconds oil sign turned green and "OK" appeared.
So, the problem was probably me going down the steep ramp before reaching my parking spot in the garage. Today, before stopping, last few miles were on leveled road.
So, the conclusion is, everything is OK with the bike. It was my fault.
I have first service in 2 days and I will still ask to solve the problem of ECO mode working but not appearing on TFT (that I explained in another thread).
I'll ask for TFT firmware update. My bike is one month old and it has version 022-005-041. I saw today on another thread here (TFT Update thread) that there was new version, 022-007-020. I couldn't care less about ECO Mode but at this point it is the only thing not working on my new bike and as I paid a lot for it, I want it perfect.

There’s no sight glass on my LandRover. The electronic dipstick is a bloody nuisance. It’s a stupid faff to check.
Don’t know why it can’t work out how much oil there is when it’s turned off, and report when you turn it on.

I’m sure the bike could do that too, if they put the sensor in the right place it would read the more or less the same on side stand or main stand. It only needs to say “enough” or “put some in”. It doesn’t need to be accurate to one tenth of a millilitre, it’s not rocket science.

Bah humbug.
