Thank fcuk for Cctv

One would imagine that the reimbursement would have to be complete in a very short time-frame.

He'll still resent the fuck out of you - for "costing" him the money, so be prepared for future issues with him

He comes close again I will put the **** to sleep

If the panniers were on it would have cost more the only damage at the rear is the pannier frame has a tiny scratch on it the whole bike was balancing on the stand and the screen was wedged tight to the van so no engine bars or handle bars touched the floor main damage is the nav 6 broken clocks screen the hand wheel and the main headlamp and clock mounting

Bit like the video evidence the police are using to convict via Joe public dash cam, they cannot use it if has been on YouTube etc. As it may influence any prosecution. So do not publish it, issue to police only.

:blast

As I said the police said there is a new system in place where they have the option to reimburse me my losses and they can take the caution

In the "old days" it was known as "pay up or else"....

had been to the coast earlier that day, i don't ride with panniers if there not needed

I'm not having that ... No one just "rides to the coast" without a few weeks of asking questions or advice on routes, clothing to wear, what to pack, bike security, will they need a service before going, recommendations where to eat, possible insurance repercussions of wandering more than half a mile from home, prepping ones awesome steed... The questions are endless.

It's insurance and bike security whilst at home that's really taxing bikermates' minds.

You assume that they are given "easy terms" - Is that the case, in law?

From CPS website, relating to time period.

The deadline for the completion of conditions should not be too long. This is particularly important in relation to summary offences, for most of which there is a time limit of six months within which a prosecution must commence; for these offences the deadline set should leave enough time for a prosecution to proceed in the event of non-compliance.

Can you recommend a bike friendly hotel with secure parking ?

OK, I am going to buy into this one. I live in the inner city in Sydney with thousands of squashed in victorian terraces. Sound carries incredibly in these areas due to echo. There is kind of an unwritten rule that you don't start up noisy cars or bikes and keep them running.

I have done it twice with my bikes in 5 years and each time the neighbours come out to visualise their disdain. If you are in the burbs it should be ok but if you are in densely populated area and running a bike with aftermarket exhaust for 5-10 minutes then it is reasonable to expect some reaction from the neighbours.

I do not condone what has happened here and your neighbour is 1000% in the wrong but could this have been avoided with common courtesy or is this not relevant in this circumstance?
