My battery was struggling to start my 1150GS and kept resetting the clock. I spoke to Cannon BMW who wanted £96 for a 19amp battery, then I spoke to Steptoe who sold me a 20amp battery for £52.
I fitted it today and my bike wouldn't run despite turning over very well. I had fitted the battery by raising the tank rather than removing it and remembered reading something on here about the throttle cable coming unseated. I checked and sure enough it was. I popped it back in, the bike fired straight up and now my starting issues are sorted.
So thanks Steptoe and thanks UKGSER:thumb2
I've got a pair of Michelin Anakee 2 tyres waiting to go on now. £160 from Costco, I'll review them once they're on.

will be interesting to hear how you get on with the Anakees !

Hi All
Put Anakees on mine when I first got her, knobbiles were to much fun on wet roundabouts!
Look like I will be putting a fresh set on for the Easter Morroco dash :drool
Put about 6k - 7k on the rear (Scandinavian road eat tyres!) Never gave any problems, good in the wet and dry! :green gri
Scuba

Slight Hijack ...

... but you started it :augie I've had Anakee 2's on my 1150 for about 6K now and found they were VERY sensitive to correct tyre pressure. Anything more than a few psi either way and they white lined as if punctured :nenau

Think mine will need replaced, carp 1150, its only lasted 6 years, wonder if mr steptoe does mail order :comfort

My battery was a BMW one and looks like the original. That would mean that it had lasted over 8 years:nenau
Steptoe probably could post a battery out but they are lead acid so quite heavy. I suppose UPS or DHL would be suitable but I don't know what they'd charge.

i think steptoe has the batterys that can be posted now as the acid is packaged seperately:thumb2:thumb2

I'll keep an eye on that. I've read some good things about the Anakee 2's and that most people didn't rate the Anakee 1's.
They look and smell nice in my living room:augie

That is confirmed. The acid isn't the problem as it comes in a sealed plastic container, but the lead is heavy (I'm stating the obvious aren't I) so I don't know how much the Royal Mail would charge.

No experience with Anakee 2's, but loads of experience with Tourances and Anakee 1's.

I changed to Anakees from Tourances and initially, I found they dropped into corners. Once I got used to the different characteristics, I loved them! Good in the dry, (at least as good as Tourances), and brilliant in the wet!

I never noticed any sensitivity to pressures on my R1150GS, I just used to run them at 36psi front/42psi rear. Great tyres :thumb

What's the deal on bike tyres at Costco? I thought they only did cars.. Prices any good?
They do sell bike tyres but you have to order them in and they only do Michelin. They take a couple of days to arrive and then you pay for them on collection. Some will fit them for you, Lakeside doesn't so they knock off the fitting cost.
The Anakee 2's were not listed on their computer so they phoned head office for me and had them added. Cost wise they came in at £160 which is comparable with cheaper brands like Continental. The reviews of the Anakee 2's state that they lasted 25% longer than the competition and had better wet grip, better stability and good dry grip.

Yesterday I got two bolts off of Steptoe he has not only save my life for which I am eternally grateful but he has revolutionised a way of thinking in me - I am a new person today :D

What part of your anatomy are these life saving bolts being attached to...:nenau :D
