BTW headlight fellas, I’ve ordered an OE version as well, let’s see eh?

Have to say...the Guzzi V twin is so much better/prettier/purposeful etc looking than a boxer twin. :drool

I prefer the look of the Guzzi I must say, but it’s a little more primitive than the last of the airheads.

Please mind your head & face on the bare ends of the handle bars.
The work that you have put it looks fantastic, a real credit to you.

After an incredibly productive week, sadly none of it related to this bike, I returned the the workshop this morning.

Wiring. I fecking hate wiring.

I’ve got to make these fit into here.

And at the same time clean up all the corroded contacts.

All nice and shiny now.

After a couple of hours with a multi meter I’ve got everything labelled up, new spade connectors fitted, and I can go ahead and build the 12 pin connector.

And as reward for that I can fit some good stuff.

Pannier frames and rear crash bars go on.

It’s starting to look a bit like a motorcycle.

Welcome back :)

Looking good young man and, FWIW, I really like that headlight, it looks so incongruous it just seems to work :thumb2

Andres

Last bit of “shiny” for today

I’m just not sure on the headlight Andres, I’ve got an OE one as well so will do a comparison when it’s all together.

The only non standard looking bits are the headlight, air filters and handlebar switchgear. Everything else either is or looks pretty much OE.

I’m liking the M shocks a lot, they look great and so much better than originals.

At this rate we might even get it running in August!

Nin, little tip, when you have cleaned all of your electrical connections, before you reconnect them all give them a quick squirt of ACF50 which will keep them corrosion free for the future.

Another small step. Pads in, discs cleaned.

I had to adjust the offset on the LH caliper, which was about 1mm too far inboard. A couple of washers between caliper and stanchion put it bang on.

Bad news is that the wiring is going to need a lot of work to get to the standard I want. That is, avoiding the need to dismantle it by the roadside in the rain. Hey ho.

A few days since I updated (as noted elsewhere by some!), and tbh I’ve not made much progress.

I’m waiting for connectors to arrive, and sorting out my wiring diagrams so I know what to build once they get here. In total I’ll be putting in 5 new relays to get power directly to the consumers without having to go through lots of switches or connector blocks.

I’ve made up a little bracket to mount the SilentHektik coils under the tank so they’re nicely out of the way.

It’s all still a bit of a mess though

Oh and the nice DVLA person sorted the historic status, so no tax or MoT, and a nice black and silver plate. Need to change the engine capacity now though .

Thought 77 was the cut off for white / black plates ? - just looked it was 75 - then moved to 79

The vehicle has to be over 40 years old. So it was ‘77, in 2017.
