And just starting to get the bits together with an eye on the build phase.

Baby steps M’Lord.

And here’s another, just dropped the tank and panels off with Vince at Abingdon Custom Bikes. It’s going to look completely stock except the pin stripes and lettering will be by hand, not a decal. Oh and there will be a nice subtle surprise on the finished item when you look closely.

We’ll get back to that in about 6 weeks time.

Will the paint need cleaning out of the fork holes in the yolks?

Before Tarka or Wapping drops in on this,

Yes I’ll run a rotary brass wire brush up through them before I fit the forks.

The down pipes went over to Pro-polishing at North Leigh, along with a couple of other parts I was going to get chromed. Let’s see what he can do with them, he was confident.

Good spot though.

Unfortunately whoever sprayed the black parts wasn’t that careful.

All the bearing and machined faces that need metal to metal contact have been over-sprayed, as have all the threaded holes.

A bit irritating (but no worse than a spelling geek I guess).

Want to see what £1200 looks like?

This is the main part of it.

Although there are some nice little touches in there as well.

The crown wheel and pinion are very nice too.

If only you hadn’t looked inside:D

Ah now I had been tipped off by the previous owner, and the whole FD was in pieces so needed to be rebuilt and shimmed by someone who knows what they’re doing - it’s beyond me for sure!

So by the time I’d factored all that in, new components seemed logical.

Is what I say to myself to help me sleep at night.

I’m not going to point and laugh because I’ve had lots of experience when it comes to finding things that are unexpectedly worn out.

Last of the planned big spendy items is now in the post to me - a set of stainless silencers and crossover pipe.

They’re not slash cut Lafranconis, but will do the job admirably.

I spent my lunch time happily etch priming a load of little bits and pieces ready to paint and bolt them on, all very good little steps of progress.

Sat am will see me dashing up to Mikeyboy with a load of bevel parts, bearings, seals and valve bits.

Into The degreasing tank,
Prior to vapour blasting, the workpiece needs to be dry blasted as vapour blasting is pretty gentle really and won’t touch ground in dirt or corrosion.
If you try to dry blast anything greasy or oily the media just sticks to the Shiite ,effectively masking it.
So a good scrubb up,and scratch out any wedged stones etc
