Best Motorcycling Roads?
Let's be keeping them to ourselves, pass them on by all means, but by word of mouth to chosen people
Not publicise them in the motorcycling press for soon afterwards they are full of crotch rockets pretending they're coming down The Mountain on the Isle of Man, followed by ambulances, helicopters, police and scamera vans

That's a **** of a road.
Its a must do only because its the most westerly point of the UK.

+1 So called best biking roads are best avoided imho Just look at the Peak District with it's average speed cameras and helicopter patrol
All down to the mongs at Ride, MCN etc. The headline cover shots of old of glorious roads on a sportsbike and clearly in shot is the speedo at 130mph and 10k revs....in a 60. The wannabes then flcok but cant manage 80 let alone 130 and up goes the casualty rate etc etc
Odd choice. The last 20miles or so to Ardnamurchan point are a real bugger. Single track, VERY mixed surfaces and a roller coaster in places. All in all a demanding ride and only done as a tick the box exercise. There are far better roads in Scotland but ahm no tellin'!

I was up at Johnny Oonyack's BnB last week on Skye. Thank Christ I was in the car. The road was dreadful with huge potholes everywhere. As my burst tyre at Glengarry will testify to 
Best biking roads in the UK: Europe 
Whilst we all like the road to have a perfect surface, there is more to one being a cracking road than the speed you can go along at. The location, number of people, where it's going to, the views, where it's coming from......................
I'd rather be on a rough surfaced road going to Ardnamurchan than a perfectly surfaced road in the Peak District (nice though it is but just way too busy).
Saying that, I can have a bloody good run from here to the wee ferry before the rough roads start

".......the Peak District...." consists of more than a mile stretch of the top of Wildboarclough and that of the Cat and Fiddle . Helicopter Patrol? Or do you mean the road sign that tells you there's a police helicopter up above just waiting and watching for motorcycles to break the rules?
In 35 years of riding up here, I've never once heard of or seen a police helicopter...........but yes, yes as you say...the Peak District is a dreadful place to visit and best avoided.
The peaks have been my riding back garden for 40 yrs. If you know your way around you can miss most of the heavy traffic at the weekends. During the week at the right times you can still get a good rip. The biggest changes have been how much easier it's been for sneaky speed traps to be set up, and the ease and accuracy they can be used to spoil your day. In 40 yrs of riding i have not noticed it become any easier to hurt yourself crashing and it has always been painful. As for the best roads, get out and find em yersen that's part of the fun.

I made the mistake of heading down into the Peak District yesterday for a change and the traffic was dreadful (a lot of it caused by a cycling sportive with 5000 riders!), even on normally quietish roads like Holme Moss. The Cat & Fiddle has been completely ruined by the SPECS cameras and 50mph limit and nearly all the backroads have 40mph limits on them
We eventually managed to find some traffic free backroads between Buxton and Castleton and the road past the Strines reservoir, but I think I'll stick north of the M62 in future, although I say that everytime I venture into the Peak District
Aren't the cameras there because of knobbers on bikes riding irresponsibly ? When 'we' use or find good roads 'we' need to keep quiet and make sure the likes of Ride and Bike don't do an article about them....

Bugger me, I 'll have to try a ride in the Peak District on a Sunday between 9 and 5. ! On second thoughts.

Thursday morning last week, met up at Ladybower with a mate and set off up to Tan Hill about 10.00 a.m. Snake empty, Holme Moss empty, round the back to Meltham totally empty, up Sleights, over the M62, across to Ripponden, Mytholmroyd, Haworth and then up the back over Haworth Moors, still no traffic, none whatsoever. Down past Wycoller and across onto the Skipton old Road through Carleton and then Skipton. I have finally found the best road to get from the Peaks to the Dales without any A roads and Motorways.
Whoever heard of visiting the Peak District on a Sunday day FFS's. ?
Kenethsnell,Tinytim you both know there's no reet good roads int Peak. Potholes ,gravel,cow shite,bloody farmers and there animals and fekkin tourists 24/7. Not worth the time or effort. Now close by we have Stavely and Brimington cracking roads them
