The best Chinese bike yet?

Digressing from motorcycles, but still pertinent to Chinese business practices; with regard to Western EPC Construction Contractors viability in securing large scale Middle-Eastern projects, I’m afraid that ship has sailed some 20-30 years ago. Western Companies are simply not in the same ball-park (for construction phase, but thankfully can still secure the design feed engineering here in the UK).

Even Indian EPC contractors (who in terms of overall cost are a tenth of the Western estimates) cannot come close to the loss-leader quotations strategies offered by the Chinese.

I’m aware of one large scale Middle-Eastern Project ($100+ Billion), where the Chinese EPC contractor (or Chinese Government since it’s the same thing), was paid not in currency, but in oil….that’s a lot of oil.

On this particular project, It was strongly rumoured that the 2000+ labourer’s on site were shipped in from Chinese jails… i.e. work for your keep.
Each morning at 6am, there was roll-call line-up with groups of Supervisors with clip-boards in hand marching up the rows of workers who were stood to attention… it was like a scene out of film The Bridge On The River Kwai....:shout

Another World out there gentlemen….

Anyways, back to motorcycles.... Enjoyed the review below... its in French with subtitles, but still an excellent review of the capability of the CFMoto MT450...... spoiler alert... nothing failed :thumb2

Paris to Malaysia and Back — 60,000 km on a CFMoto MT450

Would you buy a CFmoto 1000 if it was the same price as a GS?

No.

They are cheap and cheerful for a reason, they have a cheap smell about them. They are ok "for the money".

Your bike your choice. Just stop getting angry like Arsey and saying how stoopid people are that don't want one.

No anger here . Just find it amusing how many post in ignorance having never even looked at a Chinese bike let alone ridden one .
There was a recent test I think I posted elsewhere , possibly by Bike magazine, pitting the CF Moto 1000 MT-X against the Triumph Tiger 900 Pro and Africa Twin 1100. They deduced that the CF Moto was in a different league in every department including build quality, suspension , engine , TFT, screen , and standard equipment, regardless of price . Yet the Triumph and Honda were £14### and the CF Moto was £8###…..

That’s why bikes like CF Motos are selling in huge numbers in Europe and now flying off the shelves in the UK too.

You can bury your head in the sand and say they’re shit but why not actually go look at one and then give your opinion from a stance other than complete ignorance.

But then again this is UKGSER… so carry on 🥳

You're angry as hell. ;)

Always with the ignorance / head in the sand put downs.

People have to want their motorcycles.

The Chinese stuff just doesn't stir the soul of a lot of people.

Some people are just plainly challenged when it comes to using their grey matter! I fully agree with you 100%…how hard is it to see for FFS! And the very same people say, “The Chinese use the same engine, the same brakes etc etc…but these very same people can’t grasp the fact that Chinese quality standards are much much lower than Bmw’s.. For instance, Chinese licensed parts will be inspected/quality checked every one in a ten thousand parts manufactured. Bmw will inspect one in every 100 parts manufactured.
We all have our own opinion on this subject. Once again and I repeat: You can have cheap but it won’t be good, or you can have good but it won’t be cheap…
Ok, I’m poised and ready…and I’m sure thats opened the flood gates..😜
I think people are getting wise to being conned with smoke and mirrors.
As a KTM owner I feel I am getting a mainly Chinese bike, cheaply made with a premium price tag.

A misted up TFT screen on a garaged bike after 1500 miles is not a quality product.
Head unit on my 2 year old VW lagging way behind on the Satnav, none respnsive touchscreen and slowly grinding to a halt just like on my last one.

What happened to the legendry Blaupunkt set that every thief wanted to steal?

Premium brands installing Chinese shite, may as well take your chances, buy Chinky and accept you bought shite.

Folk have been loyal to brands, shame the brands didn't show loyalty in return.
I have spent in excess of £200,000 with a single car dealership in the last 20 years, and I can assure you my loyalty means sweet FA to them!

I’m still not seeing anything revolutionary in these bikes, beyond price. Copies and clones of bikes that all look the same.

I can see no reason why the Chinese cannot bolt together a motorcycle, to a very decent standard. I don’t doubt that the components are pretty much top notch and / or on a par with established brands. Whether the spares / repairs will be readily available? Who knows? There’s anecdotal tales of cars being written off due to problems over repairs, but that might be more around the concerns over the battery than anything else.

The Chinese are yet to spring the new ‘revolutionary’ Step-Thru / FireBlade / PanEuropean on the market. If they can buy up ‘Western’ design companies or form a pragmatic working relationship, they might yet pull it off and, into the bargain, charge for it. Until then, buy in market share on price alone.

Ford are leasing production lines to Chinese automotive manufacturers, keen on bypassing Trump’s ludicrous tariffs. Electrolux America and Mexico, have gone into joint ventures with China’s Midea, to produce white goods…. A few years ago, Electrolux were about to buy the whole of GE’s white goods arm, before a giant fire ripped through GE’s main production site. Now Electrolux America are losing money. Atlas Copco (hugely profitable) - Sweden’s largest company by shareholding - have just built a huge, state of the art, compressor production site in China, churning out high quality compressors. It might at some point overtake Atlas Copco’s vast ‘Airpower’, Wilrijk, Belgium site in output…. And what then?

The Chinese, bankrolled by a massive economy and (in their case) workforce are learning, just as Britain did… get used to it…. Or get very friendly with our nearest neighbours. What a pity we told them to “Fuck off”.

PS As to flying in ‘Chinese aeroplanes’? Why not? It might well be better put together than a Boeing and have better looking stewardesses than BA can scrape up.

Well, fuck my old sea boots.
That’s about the oddest and most bizarre explanation I’ve heard of how to grow a nation state’s wealth.

Tell me you’ve been “rounding down” the Irish Redbreast 🤣

It isn’t the fact that Chinese bikes don’t stir my soul, I have to agree they do look the part and I’m sure they ride beautifully….Its just plain and simple, I hate how we are being flooded with Chinese products in every shape and form. Like I have stated before, I try my hardest not to buy anything made in China, yes it’s getting harder and harder. I am happy to pay through the nose for quality made items, yes I must be stupid. But I have morals and most of all I have standards. 😘

There’s a lot of new bikes, that have an expensive, to very expensive, smell about them. But hey, bods buy ‘em; lots of them on these pages.

:beerjug:

They all smell the same with a plastic bag stuck to the front pipe.

I think you’ll find the cabin crew are provided by the airline rather than the aircraft manufacturer.
And those cabin crew are primarily there to save your bacon if the shit hits the fan, rather then be gawped at and judged primarily on their looks .
Surprised at you for posting such shallow bollox , Richard
