The best seat for 1100/1150?

Baglux

I bought a Baglux seat at the NEC last year. I've done a few thousand miles on it this year, including @3300miles in 5 days. Never had any dramas with it. Cost £400, iirc, but you can get @£120/40 back from that if you give them your old seat.

If anyone has a Corbin or a Sargent seat for a 1150 GSA that they would like to sell, please let me know

Cheers:thumb2

Contact details for Melvin (or now Ross, it seems) Hunter can be found at http://www.cmseats.co.uk/

Before spending loads on a new seat consider an airhawk - my standard set is a bit compressed after 45k miles but an I have an airhawk (cheaper plastic version) and it makes a huge difference to comfort, especially with raised bars and lowered pegs - enough to manage spending 32 hours on the bike in a 42 hour 2000 mile ride last week!

Sargent is 1/2 inch lower than stock, it's a bit letdown for me since the Sargent on the highest setting will be as the stock on lowest and then my knees are a bit too much stressed :( Much prefer the stock seats high-setting (860mm from the ground).

Just found out they're all bleedin' expensive stuff - got to look for s/h ones then :blast Corbin is in the forefront of the list. Will check out the others named here as well.

That's because they've been sat on for a very long time

aaaahhhh... selective copy/pasting. marvellous. here's a reminder of what you missed.

I think everyone I've seen this year... both on this site and ebay has had some damage... normally stitching thats parted.

for a seat that costs £360+ - that is ridiculous.. almost as ridiculous as your reasoning for the failure Tim.:augie

Have you thought about maybe using some spacers to raise the seat?

I can't see why Sargent can't make a seat the same height. Their excuse of "It's wider so the leg length to footpeg is the same" doesn't hold up in real life.

I asked them.... told me they're made in a mould. And as such couldn't be modified.... unless of course you choose to buy one then send it off to be re-packed. which kinda defeats the object.

You have to try different seats, as there is no hard and fast "this is better than that" seat. Each type suits different people.

Like he said but I found sargent better for me. In an ideal world buy both second hand and flog what you least prefer after a decent test period. Thats kinda what I did:)

Bagster gel seat?

Bagster seats any good? They have gel-option, but not sure how long the gel lasts(?)

Bagster R1xx0GS seat is very similar to that on the pic.

As Steptoe says, they are very subjective....

I tried a Corbin but didn't like it, it put me further away from the bars... and the pad was too hard for me...

I use a Baehr seat which is good for me...I know of others that didn't get on with theirs...

Mines heated too which is nice....;)

Both Corbin and Sargent have a LOT to say about why they refuse to incorporate gel into their seats.

corbin for me bought last year off of a friend who was selling his bike best move i have made

also had a corbin on my RT so must have a corbin bum

:beerjug:

I like the stock seats,I had a corbin, and it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat on,so I went back to the stock one again.

The thing is,the stock ones are brilliant, until you have done about 30k,and then the foam inside breaks down inside, and you can feel the plastic of the seat base through it,that's what's uncomfortable.

Well,my seat is about 18 months old now,and I bought it new from Mbw(£126) so they can have it back and give me a new one:bounce1

Watch this space:blast

as someone said before you either have a corbin bum :augie or you dont can only do about 40 mins on stock seats

It's a hell of a lot of money (buying a corbin) only to discover it's horrid. same goes for the Sargent.

Margus said in his original post that he was happy with the original seat - so I repeat.. get it repacked with a better foam than the OE and then recovered.

Corbin seats

I put a Corbin on my 1150 60,000 miles ago and after about the first thousand it's brilliant and it has done some very long rides. The only problem with it it was a pain to fit as the pilion bracket would not fit, you have to take the brackets off your original seat and fit them to the Corbin!. All that cash and no brackets, but aprt from that it's been good. Fra better than the std seat which also did some long rides as my bum has the scars to prove it!.
