Hello all.
I'm heading down to Killarney over the holidays.
Want to make use of the Macroom / Ballyvourney bypass and spend a few hours around the Black valley.
Have only ever seen signs for it off Molls Gap never ventured in.
Is there a specific route thru it? Is there much to see at all there?
Any hints or tips apricated.

Happy new year all!

Wild camped down there many years ago. Single track road that ended at a nice bridge that takes you into Lord Brandon's Lodge. Lovely area. After our camp we rode back out and made our way to the Gap of Dungloe which was close by.

Thanks John, nice read.
Thought there would be more roads / tracks to explore.
In thru Molls gap and out thru Gap of Dunloe so!

About 75 Km there - start @ Gap of Dunloe or Molls gap. Lough Brin, Ballaghbeama roads. Black valley itself is a cul de sac @ centre of route (not highlighted) that will add a few crocket narrow Km - enjoy.

I did this circular route earlier this year.......starting/ending in Killarney

Takes in Molls Gap, the Black Valley, Gap of Dunloe and the Dingle Peninsula - 143 miles of stunning scenery

The road from Glencar to Madams Island and onto Glenbeigh is a lovely stretch of tarmac too. Once you get back onto the you can also head for Killorglin and then onto Killarney. There are tons of interesting side roads to go exploring on in the area...

Last time I was over it was September 2021 watch out for the jaunting cars and donkeys on the Gap of Dunloe. :DD No traffic at all in the Black Valley.
