Can anyone confirm if this unit is a really a rebadged version of the Garmin 2720?

It has City Navigator NT+ Europe v8 but what is the latest version available and approximately how much does it cost?
Cheers

No it's not simply a rebadged unit. The biggest difference is that it is completely waterproof and more important completely petrol proof. The 2720 isn't.
You can update it to the Nav3 plus from the garmin site easily (but beware it resets itself so you need to wait 30 mins or so while it finds your location).
In the Motorrad cradle it also has extra function buttons (2720 can't use these). They are very usefull with gloves on.
However, it's got a BMW Motorrad badge on it so, suprise surprise, it's 999 quid fitted to the bike. If you add Starcom or Autocom you get the mp3/iPod function as well as voice to the helmet.

Latest maps are Europe NT V9. I've got it on my RT and although it's expensive, as far as I'm concerned it's the dog' b..ll..cks.

Never seen the point in paying the BMW premium for what is a Garmin GPS. The only noticeable difference is the buttons which I agree would be useful on the new touch screen versions, but not enough to make me part with the difference.

My previous Garmin GPSs have been waterproof (SPIII & 2610). I'd buy the Garmin and spend the £500 saving on tyres & fuel :thumb

The Bluetooth functionality means that it more closely allied to the 2820 rather than the 2720.

As well as the issues mentioned previously, there are
1) If you have BMW insurance, then it is fully insured against theft and accidental damage etc (check out precise details for yourself)
2) The Zumo-based BMW Navigator IV is expected soon, so don't spend too much money on it.

Thanks everyone for your comments and information
