i met up with my neighbour tink on sunday for the peak district ride, we left thirsk at 0700 for a steady ride over to glossop in the high peaks, to meet up with lofty lad, whome we had first met up with on the 21 dales run,
0700 the weather was fantastic, and we knew it was a great forecast for the whole day at least.
a nice early sunday steady run down the a1, m1, and then across from barnsley to glossop, on virtually traffic free roads.
we soon found ourselves at the cafe where we had planned to meet lofty lad,
with plenty of time to spare we had good big full english breakfast each, which was enough to set us up for the day, many other bikes and bikers were arriving
and leaving the cafe, in anticipation of a enjoying great days riding,
bang on time lofty lad, turned up to meet us, swell as another gs lad off the forum, (ime so sorry ime bad with names

)
anyway we had a quick chat about the route, although it went over my head as unfortunately i had not visited the peak district more than once or twice in the past so i was not familiar with the route,
anyway we set off at a nice steady pace around some great twisties, looking down onto many of the beautiful large natural lakes / reservoirs which are many in this area,
and headed out over large areas of moorland, which looked at there best on a day like today, with the weather and sun being superb, clear blue skies all the way,
through some fantastic scenery we enjoyed superb roads and views all the way,
till we passed the beautiful chatsworth house and estate, where fallow deer grazed not too far from the road
more moors, twisties, woodland, forests and reservoirs and we were in need of a good drink somewhere as it had turned into a very hot dry day,
we arrived at a little cafe in a nice shaded woodland area, and got a cold drink each to put us on for a little while,
it was here that i met and eagerly chatted to an oldish guy, on his wolverhampton built 1924 sunbeam motorcycle, a fanatasic old machine which looked totally original, the gent who owned the bike looked like he and that bike had always been one since back in the 1920s, as you can see from the pics.
next we moved on to matlock bath to look at 100s of different types of bikes all parked along the high street, its not often I've seen so many bikes in one place in one day, everything from rat bikes to monkey bikes adventure bikes to super bikes, and honda c 90s,
at matlock bath there were were plenty of cafes, we found ourselves sat outside a nice little cafe, with a coffee and a bite to eat watching the world and the bikes go by,
after leaving matlock bath, we rode through more stunning scenery, until we came to a large gorge near blue john caverns, up and over some steep hills, till we reached the top and the country opened out for miles and miles before us,
awesome awesome views (cheers lofty lad)
time was getting on a little now, and we headed out over to glossop, via snake
pass, i really enjoyed this road, and it seemed to go on for a good while,

we dropped down back into glossop after a fantastic days riding, and here we said good bye for now to lofty lad, until we meet up next time

the weather was still good and plenty of daylight left, as we headed back north, to thirsk arriving back at 7.30 pm, 12 and a half hours after setting off,
and the weather was still good,

bike put away, and straight in the house for a well earned big sunday dinner errr tea, roast chicken and the lot,
cheers lofty lad, for taking us around a great part of the country, and taking the time to tell us about the main places, and points of interest, it was a great day,
cheers tink, and cheers to the guy on the gs,
