The brake disc flange puller is a genuine BMW tool I’ve had nearly 20 years and the socket was bought from someone on UKGSER who made a batch, I can’t remember who, it must have been more than 15 years ago .
 
To apply the necessary torque I use a 3 foot 3/4 drive snap on power bar, but you will need to mackle up a jig to counteract all that toque.
Jig is clamped to a heavy bench and the forcing screw is to keep the special socket engaged with the pinion retainer.

That's a cool setup, makes it easier to fight with! Do you have the dimensions/a drawing for it? Or just something you made on the fly?
