I have had my 2011 GSA Twin Cam from new and have decided it is time for me to move on. It has been totally reliable, never missed a beat
and is still as smooth and powerful as ever. But I am finding the mass more challenging now, shifting it around in the garage and parking on a
slope or incline in particular. And climbing aboard with the cases attached does me in.

I have looked at several possible replacements (including the new water cooled GS) and have decided on the KTM 1190 Adventure. I will just
put a top box on it and use my old Oxford soft luggage for touring, my lads will have to find somewhere else to carry their stuff instead of my
cases.

I have removed the Sargent seat and rear cover, PC V, raid box and headlight protector and will put them on ebay when I get around to it.

I have enjoyed this forum and wish you all the best :thumb2

You don't have to leave, I'm sure there must be a few non or ex GS owners on here.

I haven't had a GS for over 3 years. Still worth hanging around. :)

Sometimes even managing to combine the two!! :D

I have promised the raid box to a friend. The PC5 will be £170 posted, it will be back in its box
with fitting instructions (30 minute job, pretty easy really) with the generic R1200GSA twin cam
map. Other maps are available to download from Dynojet.

Its quite sad stripping all the add-ons from my faithful old GSA but its got to go. Its been emotional!

If you are finding it difficult moving it about, why not get your self fit down the gym. In about a month you will feel the difference, and the bike will feel lighter and you will have made a investment in you health. A win win.

hi Phillh, i know just how you feel, at the start of the year i developed a frozen shoulder, the pain when trying to shift my 08 GSA, almost dropped the big girl, put me off riding her for 5 months, on top of that i have a below knee amputation of the right leg, and massive muscle and tissue loss of the left leg calf muscle, due to my legs being sowed together for 12 weeks,i was in a RTA involving my bike and another rider, back in 1982/3 at canniesburn. my point is this, i had a ktm 1190 out for a test run, loved the light weight, motor, whole thing, but then after a hour my arse started to burn, and i had to get off the dam thing, tried a f800gs for 2 days, great, but not for me, i had to get back on my GSA, man it felt just like my comfiest seat, i haven`t stopped riding it, how do you rate the seargent seats ? i am thinking of getting myself one ? take care.enjoy what ever you decide to .

Hi Pilot,

I found the Sargent seat very comfortable, it was very firm and pretty wide, only observation
is the lip at the back pushed me forward and prevented me from stretching out a bit on long
runs.

It was very well made, after 3 years and 9k miles, it was still like new. When I traded the bike in,
I had to ride 80 odd miles with the standard BM seat and that reinforced just how good the
Sargent was.

Re the KTM, I found the seat a little uncomfortable at first, like you after an hour or so. But I have
now honed the riding position to my body shape - seat on highest setting, bars in forward position
(they are on reversible mountings) and removed the rubber inserts from the foot pegs to give a
little more leg room. Its now a lot better and I am not currently looking for a new seat. :thumb2

A quick note on the Sargent seat. I do mega miles on my tours and the sergeant seat is singularly the best thing I've ever bought. It's a bit strange at first but it soon feels like the best seat on the planet. Going back to a standard seat or riding a GS with a normal seat just doesn't feel right.

The only thing you have to watch is the width of the seat will splay your legs to slightly when you are at a standstill. It feels like the bike is higher if you get my drift but no problem when you get used to it. Well worth the money.

I have a standard height Kahedo. It's good and let's me reach the floor but can be hard with the wrong underwear. Brother has the higher Kahedo. It's more rounded than mine so better leg room and better padding. Payoff is a bit more stretch to the ground.
I personally didn't like the Sargent and hated the low Kahedo so try as many as you can before deciding.

thanks for the advise and help guys, i will try to find a owner up in Glasgow thats willing to oblige me having a seat on their bike.cheers to one and all.

If you want a trip through to Edinburgh I have a Sargent seat for sale. You can try it on your bike and if you like it buy it if not then give it back and all you have lost is a bit of time and some petrol. If interested pm me.
