The HP2 Sport has landed

Also available in white just like the HP2 :thumb2

Pip,

That pic is actually the Venom, the naked RC8 which may appear in 2009.

This is the white RC8:

I know what Yonkyo means though-the HP2 Sport is stunning.

I was tempted too,but what put me off is BMW never seem to let you sit on their bloody bikes at the show-in 2006 at the NEC the Megamoto was roped off,and in 2007 at Milan, the HP2 Sport was out of bounds, being sat on most the time by a model-ok you could sit on the new GS800,if you wanted to join the queue of dwarves and girls wanting to try it.

Was the HP2 Sport available to sit on at the NEC ?

I had no intention of buying the RC8,but when I sat on one,I was amazed at how roomy and comfy it was,a comment made by all the road tests so far.

Had I been able to try the Hp2 Sport for size,I may have been swayed, though I still think the £14500 asking price is a bit steep.

But it certainly will be exclusive and I'd love to possibly get one when they come up for sale in a couple of years.

Got the call from Bristol Motorrad today....its here, its here.

My gorgeous HP2 Sport came out of the crate today. I just need to beg and borrow £14.5k form somewhere/one.

Nice, but I'd get that big fat bloke off it before he buggers up the suspension:D

Cheers for your comments fellers :thumb

I traded in my 06 ZX-10R for the HP2, great bike, but I wanted a completely different kind of sports bike. The short list was down to: Duke 1098R, MV F4R or the KTM RC8.

I was on the verge of going for the RC8 until my eyes beheld the HP2 at the NEC Show. It was love at first sight.

Ok, so the KTM is more powerful and much cheaper, but i think the HP2 is an absolute unique work of engineering art and worth every penny for the sum of its components and build quality – Telelever front, Paralever shaft, Ohlins, Quick Shifter, adjustable everything, MotoGp dash…….etc.:bow

Bugger….The weather forecast is shite for tomorrow. Oh well I’ll have to get her in the van. I can’t bring myself ride her in the rain yet.

The RC8 is going to be popular, but not exclusive. Three of my mates have already ordered them.

There are only 60 HP2 Sports coming to the UK this year.

What cost, beauty or a fine work of art?

I'll let you all know how she performs...when it stops raining. :thumb

Yonkyo

You've defo bought yourself a real head turner...Enjoy :thumb2

What is it about buying new bikes-Its always shite weather the day you pick them up :tears Happen to me the last couple of bikes i bought:D:D:D

The weather was fine when I picked her up today. But not long however, 5 miles later and it pissed down all the way home.

So my beautiful new bike has been baptised with salty water…bugger.

First impressions after only wet 15 miles?

+ Good riding position ( I’ll be happy to ride her to Valencia this year).
+ Extremely light and nimble.
+ Excellent gear box (as good as the best from HondaSuziYam) and very light clutch.
+ Had a little play with the Quick Shifter – Awesome.
+ Brembo brakes are the dogs danglies.
+ Engine revs and feels more like a V twin than a Boxer – Incredible.
+ Engine is hugely more powerful and smoother than my fully piped and tuned GS.

- New bike + new supersport tyres + wet roads = slippery ride home.

Daytona 200

Hey, watched the 200 start to finish on Speed TV, Wow HP2s finish 6th & 7th, not bad for a new bike & engine. I hope BMW will commit to raceing the extreme class for the rest of the season.

Hi Mike

Yeah I watched the race over here on Motors Channel. Great result for the HP2 considering they a running a completely stock engine and chassis.

I believe BMW will now commit to racing the full season. Excellent.

Cheers :thumb

Super stuff :clap Very original and profoundly inspiring bike, compared to any boring I4 or V2 IMHO

Keep us posted in the coming season, your impressions etc!

Whaddya mean-new engine ?

It's nearly 60 years old now !!

Amazing how they can get so much power out of it though.

Just out of curiosity...

Yonkyo, when did you put down your deposit?

Jim

Yonkyo, when did you put down your deposit?

Jim

I put down the deposit in May 2007, even before the bike was officially announced.

I was lucky enough to get the first one at my dealer, as the second one ordered won’t be here until this July, as BMW are only bringing around 60 bikes to the UK this year. Instead of the intended 90.

Your a happy looking bloke Yonkyo. I would be too.

Awesome looking bike mate, hope it brings you miles of smiles :thumb2:beer:

I still haven’t had much chance to ride it yet, due to the shite weather. But so far I’m well impressed by the whole package (except for the mirrors, which are useless and only good for looking at my elbows).

Anyhow. I thought I had a pretty exclusive bike. But what should pull up next to me? £40k’s worth of bloody Ducati Demosedici RR MotoGP Replica.

To be honest though I still prefer the HP2….

Oooohhhhh - AAAaahhhhh

:beerjug:Don't fret much, both bikes are exclusive. However I'd venture to say that photos with both in the one frame will certainly be few and far between.

It was an extreme act of faith to put a deposit down so early and happily begrudge such an early delivery. Since the second to be delivered in the UK will be in July, I don't feel so bad since I hope to have mine before that. :bounce1

Cheers mate

I assure you it will be worth the wait. It’s a pure sports bike in every way…

My thoughts exactly - and to be really honest, for me as a surprise deffo the Sport looks more exclusive on those pics in direct optical comparison!!! :bounce1

I've seen loads of beautiful pics of Demosedici inside studio, but now I release doesn't look half of that impressive in real life, especially if to put side-by-side by HP2 Sport that doesn't have nowhere near as much HP as the Demo has, but beats the crap out of it from the looks alone. But the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder they say, too.

And which bike are those two guys in that second pic looking at ?

:augie

Tsik,

You really should work for BMW PR,you know.

They're looking closer now and still can't believe how outrageously tasteless it looks compared to the other bike.

:augie

Tsik,

Already do, I like unusual, original things, so I work for free for companies who think different than the rest of the boring lot, take one and throw it to another one, won't make any difference. But don't get me wrong, I do reckon the Demosedici is fab and very original too, but maybe, fundamentally, not that "oddball stylee" as the Sport is - so long live the Europeans in any case

i can't believe it myself, but the bmw looks better in those pics than the ducati
