Hi Chris

Just got back from hols. So I’ve not had chance to get the repair done yet.

BTW there is another chap with an HP2S in my town. He recently took it to the Isle of Man TT. He unfortunately had a little bump, which damaged the upper fairing. New upper fairing = £1500.00 and BMW say it might take 6 months to come.

Nice pics BTW. Keep em coming.

Yonkyo

I may be able to help. At Phase One Endurance we are used to repairing damaged carbon fibre fairings. In fact we've been getting lots of practice recently since we let James Haydon ride the bike...

We are just down the road from you in Bridgwater. All the team are away at the TT races at the moment (I leave Wednesday) but I'll ask our fairing man if he would be prepared to repair it for you for a small donation to the team.:)

Hi Sid

can your chap have a look at the repair for me mate? or shall i pursue other solutions.

cheers

I want one so much it hurts and this thread is not helping! :D
Go & blow your bread, They are everything Yonkyo has said. I used to be in the trade before retiring & have ridden most bikes. Overall nothing is as good as this, providing you are already used to Beemers.:Motomartin

One thing I have heard is that the new bikes for 2009 may not come in such high spec as standard. To get all the goodies customers will have to pay extra! :blast
(20 grand fully kitted) Standard bikes will still be 14,500. Will make the 2008 bikes valuable!:aidan

Thanks for pushing me one step closer! I too had concerns having heard rumours of a spec change for 2009 however, I received this e-mail from BMW Motorrad the other day:

Thank you for contacting BMW Motorrad regarding the HP2 Sport.

Due to the limited numbers this bike is built in there is a waiting list which is why your bike would not be available until spring next year. We update our models each year and so cannot guarantee that the HP2 Sport will be exactly the same as the ones built for 2008.

As the HP2 is our high performance premium range it is very unlikely that any parts changed would be of an inferior quality. I have contacted the Sales Department for further information but as the 2009 range will not be announced until around November this year they may not be able to confirm any details yet.

I would suggest that you speak to your dealership about placing a refundable deposit on this bike and if the specification changes for 2009 then you will have the option to cancel the bike. I am pleased to hear you have owned and ridden so many of the bikes in our range and am sure you would not be disappointed with the HP2 Sport.

I will contact you again when I have heard back from the Sales Department.

Yours sincerely

Free with this month's Bike magazine is the first instalment of the Boremen brothers Long Way Down. What is interesting is that the DVD also contains some BMv promo material, some nice shots of the HP2 on the track.

I don't check in here anymore since it is like poking sharp sticks in my eyes, and I'm whining bad enough already. All you blokes are already racking up the K's while mine isn't due for delivery until October, a whole year on the wait list.

Anyone else out there can you give me suggestions and also what price to ask? It has now done 6,000 miles but they must be very sort after:)

Advertise it here for £2000 + an immaculate R1150 GSA SE and I'll buy it! :)
