The HP2 Sport has landed

Ha ha.........really nice Yonkyo. Hope you had a good ride :Motomartin

Thanks mate, I only had time for a quick blast around the Brecon’s. My bike does look strange though, without the bellypan which is in for repair.

BTW, how is your paintwork holding up? Mine is quit badly stone chipped. I’m thinking of touching it up, then getting that Ventureshield stuff fitted to protection.

Yonkyo

Mine's being built this week. Where did you get the mug from? If I can't have the ike yet then at least I can have a cup of HP2 tea!

cheers zzrman:thumb

congrats on getting your HP2S soon:cool: they are very special indeed.

My missus had the mug made for me special (she’s a good lass).

Maybe if there is more demand for them, I could get some more made.

I’ll find out how much they cost..:thumb

Thanks. I've been following this thread which is very good indeed. I'll be taking the HP2 over to the Dolomites this summer. Apart from the sheer wow factor of the bike, the thought of not having to haul my K1200S around another tight hairpin bend, also played its part in the decision making process.

Mines got a few stone chips especially on the nose cone & belly pan BUT if you enjoy putting miles on your bike....it's going to happen especially as naked carbon doesn't have much protection!! If you are going to keep it (IMO) just ignore it and sort just before you sell. Or paint it?

If you are going to make some mugs put my name down please :Motomartin

Hi Yonkyo...glad to hear that you are still delighted with your HP2S...having sat on your bike last Summer and followed all the threads about them on this site...i might well buy myself one for this Summer.

pgm...are you still buying an HP2S...i seem to remember on the Ducatisti site that you cancelled your order for one...if so, what changed your mind?

I am still wondering about whether to go for ABS or not? Any more views on it for the HP2S would be appreciated...especially from those of you that have it?

I have ABS on mine. I was like you not sure whether to go for it. I decided that the extra cost was negligable considering the cost of the bike. I don't want to race so the extra weight is nothing (it's a very light system anyway) and finally (IMO) it will help the resale value.

In practice I have never had it cut in...........but the mountain road that I mainly ride, at this time of the year, can be damp in the shade especially near the top; so it gives me a feeling of security should I need to brake hard.

Hope that helps - Tony:Motomartin

hi joff, the bike is due end of march, i have to say i was'nt that tacken by it when i test rode one perhaps never having had a boxer twin was the problem?
what with times being hard and not being offered much for my k12r in px i'm not sure what to do at the mo.
the dealer has agreed if i decide against having it when it arrives he'll refund my deposit.

put me down for a mug yonkio if you are having any made. been and paid my money for the hp2 today well half of it they get the other when it arrives, hopefully 2nd april delivery date .
i found a site last night were they do a venture sheild kit i think it was about £200 pre cut as any one ever installed a kit just wondered how hard it is to put it on. or do you have to put it on by a pro .
i think it will pay to put it on the bike from new and keep the stone chips at bay .

Hi ruben

Congrats on your HP2S purchase mate. :thumb2:cool:

I have been told that fitting the venturshield stuff is best left to a professional, as it’s a right fiddly bastard to apply and needs a dust free environment etc..:(

As chispitas has said, its best done when the bike is new. My paintwork is to far gone to worry about having it done now..:blast

Mugs….i’ll let you all know about price and availability soon. :thumb

thanks for that yonkyo i will keep you posted on the bike.
when i was in the dealers i was having a chat to a mechanic he told me that they have to have a big service round the 20,000 to 30,000 mark and it costs about £3,000 have you heard anything. i was thinkin what they would do on a big service for £3,000 seems a bit OTT .

Just check the service costs.

I replied this to Andy B - may help
At 50,000 kms (31,250 miles) there is a special engine check scheduled - happily not before - I can't see this being more than a complete top end visual examination, but..........I hope you are wrong about the cost!!
Anyway I have done 10,000 miles now so I guess I will get there first. Will keep you posted...........

I was at BVM in Stroud yesterday and they said that a big service was due at 30,000 miles and would probably be more than £2,000...they said that being a 'race' bike was the reason.

Makes sense........most bikes would be out of warantee by then so you could do it youself or at least move outside the dealer network:Motomartin
