The I have ridden in Scotland for a weekend

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the Borders bare, man.
I've breathed the Bealach na Ba air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

I've been to Embra, Musselbra
Up the East coast in the Haar.
All the way down the Spey
Pissed it down all the way.
Stopped in Snecky for me brekky whilst Calterdon sorted out me leccies.
I'll have you know it gets damn midgie once you get over Kessock bridgie.
I've been everywhere....

I've been up the A9, weather fine
Overtaking on solid lines
Chip shop in Helmsdale
Fish portions like a whale
Don't bother stopping in Wick, everybody there's a dick
I've done a photie stop up at Groats, nice little harbour with a few boats.
I've been everywhere...

I've been to Melness, Durness,
They're nowhere near Loch Ness
Had a thrill in Bettyhill
Nearmiss head-on on the hill
I've cranked it up down to Scourie - God them roads are pretty hoorie
I've had to pull over down in 'Pool just to let the engine cool
I've been everywhere.......

I've been past Beinn Eighe on the way to Shieldaig
Never bothered with Mallaig
Or with the Isle of Skye
Thought I'd let that one pass by
Someone told me Waternish, really is a pile of pish
Eaten chilli in Fort Bill, really made me feel quite ill.
I've been everywhere.....

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the Borders bare, man.
I've breathed the Bealach na Ba air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

Quality :clap

But is it not a wee bit early to be on the sauce, assuming you were when you got inspired to verse?

Been loads of times, including several weekends with Schtum and his wife Sharon :)

Only returned last Friday from a week in Dunoon, Tobermory, Ullapool and Ballachulish with my lovely wife Trudi and we had six sunny days out of eight and, surprisingly, a fantastic meal in the new Galleon Grill in Tobermory - makes a change from the 1980's style pub grub served in most of Scotland (the Bistro in Lochcarron is also excellent)

It's a fantastic place once away from the big towns and cities, like most other regions of the British Isles away from South East England :thumb2

It was still nice to come home to the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines though after the boring bit between Loch Lomand and Cumbria

Please explain the South Sea Bubble its effects upon the Scottish economy and acceptance of the Act of Union.

Go on then.......dazzle up with your brilliance - your dying for someone to laud you for your deep knowledge of history :thumb2

I have several weekends in Edinburgh visiting friends every year, I always travel up by motorcycle, there are some great routes north with no need to use the motorway. I usually have a sailing holiday off the west coast most years in the summer and a week long bike trip up to the top every autumn. Scotlands a great place, I have many fond memories, but the midgies and the nationalists piss me off.
A bike trip to the outer hebridies is coming up very soon.

The Hebrides ?....full of Nationalists! - DONT PISS THEM OFF or you'll be revealed for what you are - narrow and uninformed :rob

I think he means the Darien venture in the late C17th and it's effect on the Act of Union in 1707.

The South Sea bubble wasn't until the 1720's and had no real significance on subsequent events regarding Scotland.

:thumb

How's that?:D

I'm a White Settler, Hebby.

'Tis my sworn duty to annoy the Natives.:D

(edit)
On a more serious note - the 'Imperialist' card is played quite a bit when it comes to historical arguments involving England.....but Scotland was just as keen as the English, French, Spanish, Dutch and Porkies to grab a piece of the action. Unfortunately it didn't go well for them.

If it had - the we would possibly be looking at a totally different relationship between Scotland and England today:rob

No a scouser, but certainly not a bigot, and with family (yes I have jocks in my family, and Irish as well) and friends living in Scotland hopefully not unimformed. Just because I live in England it doesn't mean I know feck all about Uk history/politics, or have concerns about the break up of the UK.

Tell me your thoughts on Scottish Nationalists then - given that the majority of Scots Parliament is SNP and you dislike/hate/ them, classing them alongside midges .
(ps I have a Scousers in my family and I have to lock the booze cupboard when they come visiting....and her and him only 12 and 14 respectively an all ):D
