is this weekend. Run by the Scottish branch of the Ariel Owners Club it is basically a navigational rally where you collect receipts from designated control points. There are control points all over Scotland and you make your own route to achieve the challenge you have entered. Sandra and I are going for the distance award and here are the planned routes.

Friday - South Cheshire to Broadford, Isle of Skye where we have a B&B booked and, for us, the rally starts on Saturday morning.

Saturday - Start at 10am from Broadford then Cluanie Inn, Lochcarron, Achnasheen, Ullapool, Lairg, Bettyhill, Castletown, Brora, Evanton, Fort Augustus, Fort William, Oban and finally to our B&B in Tarbert.

Sunday - Start at 8am with the first checkpoint which is in Tarbert then Strachur, Tyndrum, on to the finish at The Suie Lodge Hotel in Glen Dochart then back home to South Cheshire

We'll cover just under 1,400 miles over the three days, not anywhere near the scale of the Iron Butt but it's a good ride and we have a good time.

If anyone is round and about we'll be in the pub next to the service station in Broadford on friday night from 8ish for a few beers and in The Anchor Hotel Tarbet on saturday from 9.30ish again for a few beers.

I was a very active member of the Ariel Owners Club back in the mid 60's / early 70's (Square Four and a 'VB').

What bike will you be on ?

Sounds like a very good event - have fun.

Bob.

I'll be on my 1200GS. The event is run by Ariel Club but it's not relly a classic event.

Aidan, there isn't a great deal of spare time for taking pics..... BTW I'll be in Ireland from the 19th to the 21st October finishing off the photo rally.

all square (4) then,eh!

mate and his dad were avid Ariel builders, he ran a Red Hunter 350 his dad built a very nice 650 - was that the Fieldmaster (no Johnny not a tractor) or the other one.

I just missed the boat on a very nice Golden Arrow, saw it every day for a few years coming in and going out of Cupar . Then this lucky barsteward (sorry Gordon) bought it.:spitfire
Better built bikes that the Beezas

The 650 was the "Huntmaster".
