Can anyone let me know what the Old Forge is like. By this I mean beer and atmos.

http://www.theforge.co.uk/

Doing some wild camping (I'm tight), so would appreciate any comments.

Especially if you can get there on the bike, I can't get any definitive view on what the road is like to the pub. And I don't fancy off roading with all my gear on.

Sorry if this is on another thread but couldn't find anything here.

Any help gratefully received :thumb2

might have picked this up wrong from the link as thats in the cotswolds, but do you mean the old forge at inverie:blast

Aye that's the one. Trying to juggle bairn, computer and coffee at the same time.

School boy error!

the pub is excellent, great atmosphere especially if ye play an instrument :guitarist

as for the bike, no chance, the closest ye can get is either park at mallaig an a ferry straight tae inverie,or go tae kinlochhourn, (22 miles of fantastic singletrack) then walk about 15 miles(hardcore terrain).

if ye want any more details PM me :thumb

there's a b+b at kinlochhourn that'll watch your bike, bunkhouse/ campsite at barrisdale that's about halfway to inverie it really is a fantas........... no i've said too much ,it's shite, dont go :blast

Great pub apart from the ghosts. Also susceptible (in the rutting season) to yahoos with 20 trouser pockets speaking loudly about nothing at all.
No Drink driving tae worry you if you have a pint. There is about a mile o tarmac road if you want to get the bike ferried across and go up an down the same wee bit all day.

Can be reached by ferry, Rib, Salmon Farm boator in extremis, swimming.
Great Seafood by the way. Highly recommended.

Ah that's a shame, I'll have to put that in my to do list.

Kinda looking forward to it, looks from the website to be one of those really great out o the way places. Mind from Hebby's response a lace of Chinless wonders during 'the season'

I'm ridin down from Thurso so may Dalkeith as an alternative?
