should you be unfortunate enough for this to happen to your bike, bmw may well be interested to find out what crash bars are fitted?
go on, guess why?![]()

Harmonics being changed?
hats off to john armstrong and ste@ssb then
bmw are apparently looking at harmonics from crash bars deceiving the knock sensor into retarding the timing, causing engine failure.

my favourite-
exploding RHS pistons/cylinder/heads. apparently a known problem with bmw, but they don't know for sure what causes it.

Punishable by dismissal? ... sounds like pish and fart to me...
Gotta be the knock sensor ... and I've never heard of an RT with valve problems ... and as good as nobody fits engine bars to them anyway...
...
Any particular make of crashbar being slandere....sorry suspected.
About to hit 12k so need a service and 1st year inspection.
Spoke to Cannons where I bought the bike from and they said around the £235 mark.
Park Lane said around the £250 mark.
Tunbridge Wells Cooper - my local one £340 including vat.
Checked with Cannons and they confirmed that their £235 does include vat. Mentioned the price difference and they were surprised and could only offer that Coopers must be using BMW car labour rates.
Not sure what I'm expecting or wanting to get out of this post, but it does go to show that it's worth a ring round.

http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/911234/page/0/fpart/all/vc/1On Friday I paid £170.02 for a 600 mile service for my Adventure at North Oxford. I was told that the final drive oil had been changed, but that it would not need changing again. If so, it seems the drain bolt has been repositioned just to ease the 600 mile service.B.
