I have just obtained a price to swap my my 2014 TE with 6600 miles on the clock for a triple black and was quoted £5000. Having walked away I decided to have a look at the price in France, with the pound being strong at the moment, and the list price is £12265.

As it is quoted as a triple black on the official BMW site I guess the spec is the same apart from the reduced power.

Has anyone gone down this route as £3300 is a big saving?

I'd be very careful in checking out the specs

My understanding when the LC came out was that the TE spec bikes were UK only? I seem to remember someone on here trying to sell a Dutch TE spec GSA that didn't have LED indicators or headlights

Plus, it'd only have a KPH clock :augie

Buyer beware

Looking at an Austrian/German brochure and the specs and standard equipment for their models are a lot lower , to get the spec up to that of a UK r1200gsa te model with panniers was over 24,500 Euros (£18,000 plus)

South Africa selling equivalent spec bikes for 197,000Rand. ( that includes 14% refundable tax)

(Its actually got comfort/touring/dynamic , chrome silencer, daytime LED additional lights AND the expensive wire wheels.)

(You can get it VAT free if shipping out of SA.) Thats a HUGE saving, I was so tempted but sadly I'm also impatient so I ordered from the uk in the end to save time.

If you want a brand new GS for £9457 inc uk VAT but plus shipping let me know and I'll pm you all the contacts.
Flights and holidays down there are so cheap at the moment. Its the best country in the world for a vacation , imho nothing comes close.

Get a few people together and I suspect the shipping cost would come down as well, don't expect you would have a worthwhile warranty though.

You might be right about the warranty , but then again if you spent £9K on a secondhand ( private sale) bike , you really wouldn't worry that you didn't have a warranty.
These are brand new bikes , what could go wrong ? ( tic)

But it isn't 9k it's 11k by the time you get it here, certainly a handy saving on new and you could pay for a few problems and still be in pocket but if the corrosion set in I wouldn't fancy your chances of getting an engine swap as several on here seem to have had and I certainly wouldn't want to pay for it.

I could still be tempted though.

Agree about the corrosion problem, mine goes in later this month for an engine swap, and I wouldn't want to be paying for it.

I'd be more than upset if I was offered only 5 grand for my 2014 TE with 6600 miles on the clock!!

For what?
