THE UNSTOPPABLE BMW R1200GS

Got my issue of "RIDE" today and this years Rider Power results. The 1200GSA came highest of the BMW trailies at 7th ahead of the 1200GS which was ahead of the 1150GSA which was ahead of the 1150GS.

I know these surveys are very subjective but this is supposed to be based on what owners think of their own bikes. The 1200GSA had scores of 4 out of 5 in all the sections including reliability.

Told today by a bike recovery firm that the GS1200 is the most populal bike to be recovered and is great for their business

Hardly surprising when you look at the sales figures. More bikes = more breakdowns.

Oh - and miles covered too. Recently learned that the avewrage milage done by Harley riders in the UK is 2K per annum!

ha... Eariler in the year on a wet morning I pulled into Linds for a service and they had been seriously wondering if I'd actually turn up.

Turns out some GS owners won't take their bike out if its wet, even for a service.

So I wouldn't throw any stones.

Nothing like a sweeping generalisation:augie You could also charge Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki etc etc etc with this FFS but I'm prepared to bet a higher percentage of GS riders ride all year or at least most of it.

20,000 miles a year; one 1200 GS and three 1200 GSA. Problems? none.

Have I seen bikes with problems? - yes.

Those with a problem shout the loudest - usually accommpanied with the "Fit for Purpose" divel; "Meant for going around the world" shyte and other sarcastic remarks.

Gets right on my tits. :D
