Just back from THE VINCE, run by Austin Vince, in the Spanish Pyrenees. Myself and my teammate were both on our R1200GSA's, and we came 3rd. Everyone else was on smaller bikes. Awesome trail riding and challenging at times on big bikes, but do-able.
The VINCE appears to have replaced the HUMM (Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness). Compared to the HUMM, the event is a lot smaller (c. 70 people compared to 100+), a lot less road work so more trail riding, and more time on the trails (08:00-20:00 as opposed to 08:00-17:30). Plus you get to do all the planning at home before the event, which means, less fannying about when on yer hols and err more trail riding !
See http://www.austinvince.com/navigation-events for details of next years events. Highly recommended !
Here's some piccies:
Austin chatting. Weird - the XT in the pic gives me the horn.
Another rider with custom t-shirt:
I got caught out by a wire fence on a blind bend going down hill on loose stuff, which you can just about make out here:
Resulting in:
No damage….heck, its what these bikes are made for.
Some scenery shots:
So whatcha waiting for? Sign up for next years event...
