Ordered my GSA1200 today! Can't wait for this beauty to arrive so I can get some miles onto it! Reading through people's experiences and adventures on here has me ready to go, it's just a great forum!

O and yes I'm short and fat hence the seat reduction :)

Good man. However, I strongly suggest you don't try collecting it on the estimated delivery date as you may not be in a fit state to ride!

I would tend to agree with you! Planned date is Saturday the 2nd or Monday the 4th, then spend the day on it!

Why such a long wait?

Yes I'm funny like that as the man said :) In Ireland our reg plates go from Jan-Jun 161 and Jul-Dec 162 so 16 is the year and 1&2 distinguish what half of year you bought in. Actual real date would be around the end of November or start of December. So the the sake of a 4 week wait and I can a new bike feel all year long rather than just four weeks. Sad I know but hay.

Lucky git!

Was going to buy one a few years old but in the end I said to hell with that as I never had a new bike apart from when I was 14 in Italy and that was a 50cc so it doesn't count.....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Besides the options was upgrade the cage and get a second hand GSA or new GSA and keep the same cage.......it was a no brainer!

I had a Garelli 3 gear step through moped when i was sixteen in Italy. Still have it in the loft of the house in Italy. One of these http://www.bikeshop.ro/uploads/file_322927_phpdozTao.jpg

Ah the memories. Favourite prank was to jam part of a wooden ice cream stick into the spark plug cover then place it back on the plug. Great fun watching someone trying to start the bike/scooter/moped :D:D:D

Enjoy your new bike :aidan

Aaaaa the memories! At 12 I had the new style without the peddles, same as this one.

When I was 14 I got a new one of these in blue. I tried to take that bike anywhere I could.....quite a lot of the time I'd have to turn it around as it would not have the power to get up the hill....50cc seemed so much at the time :)

There comes a time in life where you sometimes need to say goodbye to an old faithful friend but on the upside you get another one.

It's like binning your old haggered wife off for a feisty young supermodel

I'd more go for less maintenance like a really hot nymphomaniac than a supermodel but yeah you get the idea :)

This one will have the new blinking emergency lights and the new abs that you can use in a corner.....not planning on ever using either haha. Can't wait, it's going to be a long 3 months!!

What colour did you go for? Actually temped to get the panels sprayed black. Dealer can do it for about 300.

Mine is white though I've bought Black Tank Film from here:
https://signaturecd.com/product/bmw-r1200gs-adventure-lc-tank-protection-film-matte/

If you go down that route see this thread too:

That's worth looking into, thanks.

I just have a thing against white on a vehicle because in Dublin it's the favoured colour for drug dealers, scum and bike robbers.....actually if I get white they may leave it alone and save me getting judged by 12 of my peers in court :)
