The world best driving road is in Portugal.

Update

It's OK, but nowt special

There are some fab roads East of Pinhao towards the Spanish border. Cars seen at a rate of about one per hour!

On the roads I take if I encounter more than three cars I think I'm having a bad day :)

having just ridden the 85 from Kelbra to Bad Frankenhausen, i would say as roads go even though its only 15km, its very good.

The C1311 is the best road in the world Mick

Certainly a cracker. Add the L511 to it and it's motorcycle heaven :aidan

Did you go up to the Kyffhauser monument ?
Hoping to be that direction in a few weeks & it's on the list. Any other roads in the area you'd recommend ?

yes went up to the monument a very imposing one it is, most of the roads in the Harz region are excelent and billiard table smooth, it really is a nice area. We went from Harz to Colditz and then onto Czech and many more places, and are still away at the moment but start heading back tomorrow. where is it you are going i may have some routes saved.

where is it you are going

Now, if I knew that….. :D

I've 3 weeks to get from Cherbourg to Geneva & I've never been to Berlin. If I head that direction then Harz is on my way.
From there I can head south, cos I really want to do the Dolomites again, and then west to Geneva

so no real plans just wing it, i like your style, we left the Dolomites 3 days ago and had really good weather.

It leaves you free to be flexible - two years ago it was cold & wet in the mountains so I turned right & kept going south until I got to the sun around the lakes in Italy. Worked out much better than suffering on ;)

Keep the fingers crossed it's still nice when I get to the Dolomites. Stunning scenery & roads don't you think ? But don't tell anyone, it'll only ruin it...

OK, I'll raise you the L511 and bid the C1412b, but unless you tell me where the L511 is i won't tell you where the C1412b is either - then we'll swap sories over a

Cheers

I've only done a bit of the C1412b cos I keep getting distracted. Must give it a decent try this year.
The L511 is very close to it - runs from Isona to Coll de Nargo. 40km of smooth twisty road with even less traffic than the C1311

Of course - silly me! You can make a circuit of of this - next time you do it head south from Coll de Nargo on the horrible C14 but turn off just before you cross the dam at Oliana - just don't tell anyone about it :)

And it is true I do it many times and one of those times with a forum member The_smudger.

It's a small track but worth every mille till there.

As the heading say's Driving road, it doesn't Riding road why get your nickers twisted

Thanks for this - the picture on the Avis page reminded me of this :)

I'll try that this year, thanks Simon
Mum's the word :thumb

And I might have to detour to Port de la Bonaigua :bounce1

The C1311 is the best road in the world Mick - I should know, you need to ride it to reach my holiday cottage :) - but that video is of the 'boring' old N260 heading west to Sort.

Take a look at this vid to see the comparison - separates the men from the boys or what

Including the driver of this Ferrari last year :jager

PS I say 'boring' old N260 simply because lazy people ride it and think they've 'done' the Pyrenees - they know nothing :D

PPS the video is of almost all of the drive from my house to where we met for coffee Mick, no wonder we were late :thumby:

I concur.....much better on an XTZ...more lean :P

We call it the Scalextric Track and for good reason :)
