I reckon' BMW and Harley service and parts managers went on the same course!

My Softail of awesomeness has developed speedo condensation, apparently a common occurrence in HD circles. The Milwaukee Mothership will only step in if you actually spot goldfish circling around the needle!

On a more positive note though, I swapped the stock solo seat with a sundowner solo......night and day difference!! Mucho comfort and no more gradually sliding off the back of the stock seat and trying to wriggle forwards all the time. The best part was that I only had to sell the one kidney to afford it!:thumb:D

They actually do all do that! At least on the new Softail with tank mounted speedos - and maybe others.

I had mine replaced under warranty (tell them it's a safety/legal issue as you can't see what speed you are doing) and they will probably swap it out. But your new one will do the same in a few months.

There has been talk of drilling small holes in the back of it, sticking some silica gel in the console where it fits and other possible remedies, but I think the only real remedy is to move to Arizona.

Several members of a local Harley chapter tried that last fix , apparently that only works if you take the bike with you :P

My brake disc are pitted to feck.......same response.

I’ll be doing my own servicing and not worrying about the warranty, it’s worth pish, shocking for a 20k motorcycle.

I beg to differ, BMW are way better in my neck of the woods. Mrs R's S1000XR 2016 warranty ran out few weeks ago, I mentioned a bit of tell tale water under the water pump. Response was no problem sir we will get that fixed under warranty!

No wonder HD's saales and share price have fallen off a cliff with piss poor customer service like that for what they laughingly call a premium product.

Methinks thou protest too much!!:D (Go on, admit it....you secretly want one:green gri)

As regards the condensation in the clocks....I'm not that bothered really, it disappears after an hour or so riding and doesn't affect the bike at all. The instrument console isn't sealed so it's bound to happen.
The enjoyment of just riding the bike more than makes up for little niggles like that. :thumb

Absolutely correct. Harleys warranty is notoriously shit unless you only fit their parts., but they also won’t cover my pitted brake discs or Si and his leaky speedo. Harley is no premium brand, most accessories are from China/Taiwan, poor fitting and in general just plain shite.

Still love it though :D

I had the same with the brakes and speedo, they've agreed to swap the speedo but say the new one will do it. I will happily keep getting them to swap it s mine fogs at the bottom where the speed is displayed.

Yeah, slightly different from mine that has a normal needle analogue arrangement above and the digital fuel level/range, rpms, gear indicator etc. below. I can see the speed, but not the digital bit when it's condensated, so essentially not a safety issue as yours is. As I say, Cheltenham HD say it's not warranty covered on a HD approved S/H bike. Ho hum.

Mine is always clear when I start the bike - and the condensation appear after about an hour. Leave the bike to cool and it goes away again!

you lot should have bought an Evo...

To be fair my M8 RKS has been pretty faultless (that’s probably put the kibosh on it...) and this between my old Evo spitting out oil and my Ducati flashing warning lights at me. :P

As is mine, apart from the pitted brake discs, and it’s a cnut to clean the wheels :D

Here you go:comfort

No way, metal brush binding scratches the shit out of the paint!

This is what I use (made sure I clipped its nails first!)
