Hummm, do you know I think this is the first time ever that I have tested something on an unseen area and now I understand why its important :D

Finally collected my 12GSA from NOB last weekend and managed to do a few miles (160ish) this week. Had to pop it back in yesterday for some tweeking and they where kind enough to clean it again before handing it back ;) It was at that stage I nothing pitting on the bottom of the top box (been fine all summer and I didnt think there had been any salt down so far around here, but I guess I'm wrong)

Anyway, only a couple of small spots, ACF50 on order and I thought I'd see what I had to clean the little bits of corrosion there are... started with some Autoglym Metal Polish on a small spot on the underside... I'm please to say I've managed to remove the corrosion - there is still a little pitting present - and I also seem to have created a very effective travel mirror :D thank feck its the underside!!!

Taff, you mentioned Belgom Alu, does that give a similar finish??? :D If so does anyone know how long it'll take to dull the shine or can you suggest anything else good for cleaning? I get the impression that ACF50 protects rather than cleans, or am I wrong?

and as a final thought, has anyone tried Mare? I know its great for paintwork... but I haven't seen anyone mention it in connection with panniers...
