Picked up my F900 GS (Trophy colours, Enduro pack etc) on Friday .. part exchanged my r1250 GSA
First impressions .. very good. Obviously a very different bike to the GSA but I was looking for something with less mass that I would use off-road more frequently .. I rode an F900 GS at the ORS centre a couple of weekends ago on the L2 course and it was superb .. back down there for the L3 course in September
Alternatives I tried out, (On/off road):
- Africa twin (on/off)
- 890 Adv (on/off)
- Aprillia Touareg (on/off)
- Triumph Tiger 900 Pro Rally (on)
- Tenere (on/off)
- Vstrom (on/off)
.. the Touareg was my second favourite .. it's an absolute delight but dealer/support is pretty thin and MWay work would be harder (I have a regular commute) but it really is a brilliant bike. Also liked the 890 but there was just something that I didn't get on with .. just a personal thing.
All had their pro's and cons .. reason for going with the F900:
1. It ticked all my own personal boxes and I enjoyed it most on and off road
2. I like the fit and finish
3. It is a familiar interface and the bike fits me and my personal style well
4. I have a BMW dealership just down the road
5. simple and straightforward deal
Time will now tell but so far very pleased.
