Been offered a price on my bike that I think I'm going to accept, seen the GSA I want at vines Guildford, hopefully do a deal this week.

What should I be looking out for, it's a fully loaded 2010 model with 3000 miles for 12k, I think that's high and Alton have an 11 plate for same price less miles and I think same spec less top box. (Need to check spec though, website is a bit vague)

Is there anything I should be asking for to get the best deal, will be taking the finance out.

Jebus, and that is a lot.
I test rode one a few weeks ago and when looking around the showroom afterwards had my eye on a 2010 GSA with 3k for £11. As the only extras were crud catchers I had a trawl of the net and found a loaded 2011 GSA with panniers and box for £11500 from another dealer. There are some good private deals out there too.

Ok my bike has done 22k but it has full history and BMW warranty and i paid £7795 for it. But its is only a GS not a GSA.

That is good price. But I really want a GSA, just got back from vines all he would offer off is £400 not a penny more. It has the following: dynamic and comfort pack, upgraded LED fogs, full panniers(one has a shitty scratch, but no deal breaker) BMW tank bag, a fitted mount for a Garmin 660 but no GPS and an extra aux socket.

Would not throw anything else in, stating that they sell them so easy, I know this bike has been in since beginning of November so they don't move that fast.

Not sure what to do, are they likely to move when I go in to agree a sale, I am willing to walk away as there are plenty of bikes, or will they stick to there guns on the price?

Give him your best price and be prepared to walk away.

In January bike dealers will be dead and you stand a good chance of cutting a better deal.

I'm off to Alton bahnstormers tomorrow, have the next 3 weeks off work, so its the deal I'm after. Need to part finance it, so even better for them. Ill see, I'm quite fussy on colour as well.

Walk away, shop around, wait till January or later. With people after the new LC there will be a few more second hand ones on the market.

Went to Alton today, saw two bikes,

This is the one I enitialy went to see, I thought it was an error on the site saying magna red, however it was painted brand new to white on black, looks great but its non standard, best price he would do was £12300 inc a top box.

Best price without boxe was £11900 or £12850 with a full pannier set, was not willing to budge anymore.

The first bike has less miles a month newer and £600 cheaper, this is what was hard to get my head round, was not willing to put 2nd hand panniers into the tripple black to try help, with saying it was about trade descriptions ect.

So still no further forward and more confused.

Have you thought about a new one?

Do you need Electronic suspension & Traction control etc?

A new one is £12345 OTR, including ABS now............... then you add what you want and the bare bones I would choose is Comfort pack @ £530 - making it £12875

Then you may get a better deal with your p/x and low rate finance on a brand new bike and maybe the dealer would throw in a topbox FOC, as a sweetener

You can buy panniers (of any variety) secondhand here much cheaper, as a rule

If you're spending £12k+ on a secondhand bike, I'd go for a new one for little more and have the benefit of getting 2 years warranty

Good idea Johnny, was not even given that option, nor did I think about it.

New is nice but I think I want all the extras. The BMW boxes are aweful, so not fussed there, much prefere my Trax boxes on my Suzuki, shame there branded.

Having had ESA (Suspension)/ASC (Traction)/TPC(Tyres) I think they're overrated and certainly wouldn't be paying £1500 extra for them

Why would any one buy a GS gets a puny little tank, a tiny screen, you have to buy crash bars, I don't get why people would buy a lesser bike!!

Of course I jest it's horses for courses, I like the GSA styling over the GS, its a taller bike, I can afford it and I've been a member on here since 2009 and still want it, so it must be he one!
