As per title.

Just wondering what fellow Tossers that have made the switch think?

Does the extra weight make a big difference?

By comparison I tried an LC RT a while back. As much as I wanted to like the bike I did not get on with the extra weight and the slower handling.

Are your legs long enough? I couldn't even get the bloody things off the side stand when I was sitting on them when I was working at Park's.

Onece you get it moving the extra weight is unnoticeable really and as most of the extra weight is in the extra fuel just half fill it !
Seriously it isnt quite as flickable as the standard GS but i think that is more than made up for in a slightly better ride due to the longer suspoension travel and unless you are expecting it to be sportsbike like, handles as well as you will need.
As for height I am a short arse 5'8" and manage alright with the seat in the low position !

Just do it

It's a weird one but I find the LC GSA to be lower than the LC GS

I can get more of my foot on the ground when sat on the bigger bike

It's gotta be something in the padding either that or the GSA seat is narrower in the front

when both have std height seats on the GSA is taller

you won't notice the weight when moving but will when you come to slow down ,and move around in the Garage …they are Both great bikes ..I have just chopped my GSA in for a SXR …because of the weight

Yes well i forgot to mention that i am thinking about the low suspension version.

I believe Parks will have one on as a demo soon. :D

I did just that - GS to lowered GSA - and find the GSA no more difficult to handle and 95% as flickable. I take it into central London and back regularly and even in heavy traffic it's a pleasure. It's not as comfortable though. The seat on the GS is flatter and nicer long distance. I can't quite get settled on the GSA - even with an airhawk. The 5cm seat drop makes all the difference commuting but if your inside leg is 32" or more you probably don't need it. Whether it's worth the change... 5 months in I'm not so sure, but then I get bored easily ;)

Just been to majestic to load my LC GSA up with wine in the top box and rear seat , easy to handle on the move , rapid after using my 530 T Max for a few months , I'm 6 foot 4 and find it a breeze in traffic and fantastic on the motorways , low speed trickling is easy and that weight disappears .give it a test ride , best GSA I have owned :thumby:

Just got my low suspension one, Very good bike and handles a lot better than previous model, suspension is a lot firmer.

Only issue I see with this low suspension model is the bike is virtually upright on its side stand so you really need to be careful where you park it!
You can adjust the preload so it raises it back to standard height, which is still manageable.

I've made the change, and couldn't be happier. I can't notice the weight difference, unless I'm wheeling it round the garage with a full tank of petrol. It's more comfortable long distance, is nicer to ride in general, and I can't notice any difference in handling on the roads I ride. The extra fuel range is handy if you need to be somewhere at the crack of dawn and don't want to fill up.

But, most importantly, it looks frikkin AWESOME!!!!:D

I tried a gsa today. Similar suspension to my gs te, worse fuel economy by about 5 mpg, slower to rev up, less flickable.

Heated grips way bette.

still suspect on manhole covers.

Quickshifter awesome and riding position a bit more roomy.

Liked it a lot but cant justify £5k cost to change to a 15 month newer bike, it was just too similar and definately a bit slower in a less exciting sort of way, maybe thats the new flywheel.. Maybe next year for me.

Stick a full system on one, and a Hilltop!:D

I'm 5'7" and no problems. I can't get both feet flat but I can get a good footing on the balls of my feet.

As everyone here says, once your moving the extra weight makes no difference.

As for handling, I agree its no sports bike but if you give it a handful of throttle it'll give you a proper grin.

I have been riding my GSA around like a proper hooligan recently since testing the S1000XR and the KTM1290.

The extra miles in the tank makes long trips way more interesting

I have a 2015 GSA, am 5ft11ins and can't get flat footed...not that I care! I come from the dirt bike world and never understood this flat footed thing? I recon it's for pussys lol...slide onto your thigh and be done with it!

I'm 5'10 and can flat foot, but have a 32" inside leg!

Doesn't matter but the GSA is a good bike. Once you have had one you won't go back :aidan. Just get one with gear shift assist. Get some decat headers on it and take it to that place at the top of the hill. You won't look back once the heated grips have been sorted.

From personal experience I can recommend the small BMW bag that fits on the rear of the bike. It is a truly good piece of kit if you commute on the bike or just go away on weekends. Cheaper than the top box and easily removed to carry with you.

Swapped by GS for the GSA last November. A good move all round as the GSA feels more planted and has more road presence. :D

Joking apart I much prefer the bigger tonka toy and at 6 2" it fits me just fine. :thumb2

Estate agent speak...."Once you get it moving the extra weight is unnoticeable really" It might as well be a Pan....
