Thinking of swapping the XR for a GS !!

Well its done, after 4 weeks 300 miles and £650 worth of extras, of XR ownership, its sold, I didn't do too bad I took £1k less than I gave for it, bought a 2025 76 plate 1300GS TE Trophy with every pack option apart from the Active height thingy but its got the rest, had to back the XR with £4k but im happy, go to collect the GS Saturday morning 183 mile each way so will be shitting myself on the way there and hopefully grinning for the 183 miles back, as someone earlier said better to take the kick than have the wrong, the XR is a really great bike but just not really for me the sheer tractability of a high torque engine is for me better than the balls out revs of a 170 bhp one

You should have tested the XR for a day first ?

Yes jb should have, might have been a good idea to test ride the 1300GS before shelling out £20k but hey ho LOL

Might be just me, cant remember ever test riding a bike I ended up buying. Might appear *wreck less but I had a new Polestar ordered and delivered to the house (when i was away on business) without even seeing one in the flesh.

seat of the pants purchasing has (mostly) been fine.

Pleased I took a test ride on the Gen2 xr when it came out. I looked at them, sat on them, convinced myself it would be perfect.
Took a test ride and hated the engine. Very all or nothing and top end power, with little torque.
The GS felt great when I got back on, and that was a 1200 at the time !
Subsequently had a 1250, then 1300. 1300 is the goldilocks bike for me.

See if your local dealer would let you take a longer term loaner. Sometimes they'll let you take the bike for a day or two, maybe over the weekend?

I'm absolutely biased but to me, there's nothing better than a GS and with the additional power on the 1300 it's just incredible. Also, you can now setup the bike to be a lot more sportier than before, making it a bit more "XR" if you set it up right.

If you make the choice to swap, this might help:

76 plate, you've done well there 😁
