Thinking of swapping the XR for a GS !!

Cheers guys
Business manager is supposed to be calling me back today !! lets see what he has to say, I will want some kind of email stating that if it goes tits up within a period of time and the XR is gone I want them to pick it up and give me a full refund, if they cant do that then fuck it I think ill get the XR back and trade it in for a new Africa twin Adventure Sport again
Rob
Or get your money back and buy that mint Versys 1000 for sale on forum . Use that whilst you decide what you want next week 😜

Just had a call from them they paid for the module to be overnighted from Germany so they are fitting it now they said they would either sort the bike or give me the full invoice value back and keep the XR (better for me ) they have offered a £300 good will gesture payment, I said to them that I would take the GS back if they email me a declaration that if it goes tits up within 4 months or 4K miles they would take it back and give me the same full invoice value back which they have agreed !!
ringing me later to confirm its fixed !!! We Will See got an Africa Twin on hold, I think id prefer the GS if it worked properly !!

Haha fair enough. I can imagine it's frustrating to have a new(ish) bike broken so I get people's frustration in here.

I just got a quote to trade my 1250 in against a 1300 (they need 1250 stock apparently)..makes me think I'll just hold onto my 1250 :D
I bought my R1250GSA last August and the salesman said they couldn’t get enough of them. The showroom had an awful lot of R1300s of both flavours. Apparently the 1250s were outselling the 1300s by a big margin.

Bought a 25 plate S1000XR TE 3 weeks ago with Akrapovic BR Racing Engine covers, lap timer, front Fogs, 700 miles £16,495 on it then started to buy bits for it
Rad Guards
Screen protector
Fender Extender
Pannier Rails to fit my metal panniers to
Bar risers
Had the screen painted Black
Moto Graffix front fairing protector
Moto Graffix Tank Protector
+++++
its a proper bit of kit but im so not used to a 4Cyl and although its not, it feels to me like its revving its tits off, the power is immense, and the comfort is very good but Its just not me, at the moment i'm trying to trade it in for a R1300GS TE Trophy but just waiting to see what sort of a kick in the Bollocks im going to have to take !!
Rob
I also want the R1300GS TE Trophy with the panniers and an acro exhaust lovely looking bike, just have to sell all my stuff to get one, but it will be worth it, great choice AB 👍🏻

Bristol BMW said that to me when I collected my 1250 GSA. They had about 10x 1300 GSA, brand new yet the 13 odd 1250 GSA were all waiting for collection :D

That's not too bad then. My bike is booked at Grimsby for it's service next month, hopefully your 1300 isn't still there when I drop by :D

correct, I did 23k miles on my 1250 and it didnt miss a bit. I have owned two 1300's that have had countless issues (one currently in BMW for further testing following throttle body replacement). that's the evidence based on personal experience.

Pleased a bought a KTM 1290SAS. No issues in 5 years and a hoot to ride.

That’s a good offer from them, good to read about a dealer looking after their customers.

It’s not surprising the 1300 rattles a bit, it’s the norm to avoid the first runouts, by the time production ends the last batch will be the one’s to buy.

I guess it was 2 years back when the 1300 GS started coming in the dealer here had bought a *lot* of 1250 GS which had big incentives from BMW. Not too long after, he still had most of the GSs, then came a boat load of 1250 GSAs, one could hardly walk through the showroom. I remember on their website page after page of new GS and GSA 1250's at great close-out prices. I wondered if he made a big mistake bringing in so many 1250's but by last Fall (a year later) the last of the GSAs were finally gone.
BMW (and KTM really does this) offer liberal incentives on last years models and even larger incentives when the new model coming in is an all new design. Buying the last year of a model series gets you a well sorted machine at a great price and you avoid the new model "issues" that seem to come with the first year or two.

Adventure Boy et al,

(mods move if necessary as it's Adv B's thread). Air Intake temperature sensor failure is the latest issue. New sensor to be fitted in the morning. Note that has failed c.20 miles after getting a service, software update, new battery, new front and back suspension units and pump.

Feel like I am the ultimate Beta tester ie I'm finding all of the faults!! Lend me your 1300 and i bet it breaks down! Hoping to stretch to a 25mile run without issues at the weekend - cross your fingers and everything please!!

Sounds like the dealer is doing all they can, refreshing to hear!

My view on the 1300’s lack of uptake is insurance, I recon people want them (especially after riding one) but then get put off by the cost of insurance on one!

Ok all done and supposedly repaired and tested, bike is being delivered Saturday back home, the dealer is very accommodating to be honest and super apologetic, which you would expect when your £18K bike shits its self 48 hours in, they have agreed the £300 good will gesture and I have an email stating that if it goes tits up again, within 5 months or 5Kmiles they will refund me the full invoice, so the new set of Road 6s are free Woohoo
Ill leave the thread open just incase it blows its sausages again and you fcukers can laugh at me again for taking it back LOL
and yes the insurance on these is mental £400 more than the 170bhp S1000XR and I havnt moved the the GS theft capital of the country the bike is in a locked alarmed garage with a roller shutter to get into the garage side way, locked and alarmed front gates and 8 CCTV cameras around the house and garage all on motion sensors reporting to my sons and my phones !! I was very shocked to be honest but I suppose they think there is not all that security at the local Costa !! LOL

Fingers crossed it's all sorted now. From what I've read about faults triggering on these bikes from low voltage I plug a Tender in to it once a week to keep it topped up.
You're not the first I've heard mention insurance being high on these bikes but mine hardly increased from a 2024 Stelvio to a 2025 GS1300. LOL maybe that's because Stelvios are high too.
