My local dealer is doing what seems to be a great deal on the 2014 1190.

  • Interest Free Credit (50% deposit)
  • Full Pannier Set
  • Heated Grips
  • Adventure R engine bars
  • £1000 "dealer discount"

So all this for £12900 which seems decent as long as they aren't just clearing stock for a brand new model next year, which I seriously doubt?

I was hoping to take their demo for a test ride this afternoon but the technician took it home for the weekend :blast

I think the only thing I'll miss from the GS is the cruise control! Anyone else switched from an LC to the 1190?

Don't do it!!

If too many ex GS folks start buying into the big oranges we'll not get to ride round without bumping into hoards of similarly mounted "biker mates" :GS:GS:GS:GS:GS:GS:GS:GSKTM:GS:GS:GS:GS:GS:GS:GS :thumb

Juries out as to whether the bike in link below is model to replace or model to compliment current bikes but will be one of the reasons apart from time of year why the deals are being offered.

I'd say the deal is because of a new model out soon, just like the multistrada that I've been looking at, apparently the ducati factory has stopped the production line of the mutley because there's a new one out shortly to take on the s1000xr.

I do like the 1190 build quality looks better than the gs but for me it was to tall.

I'd say the deal is because KTM UK fucked up and ordered too many. There are only 27 KTM dealers in the UK that sell the road bike range and recent history has shown that they do seem to end up with too many of one model and not enough of another

Why is the offer not decent if they are introducing a new model :nenau

You are buying a bike, presumably to ride and enjoy....if the package is a good one and is better value in some way or provides more than other marques right now, what difference does it make what happens next year?

Unless it's a fashion accessory to you and you're just after the 'latest bling on the block', get one :beerjug:

For us short arses .

I went from a GS to an 1190 , mostly for the engine , and that's probably the only thing that's better IMHO
Kept it a year and have since swapped for a Multistrada
The bike lost 4k in a year and because I don't really go off road the Ducati is the better for me.
The Ducati also handles much better than the KTM , which was What I wanted.
The residual value is a real stinger , even compared to a GS the money falls off them , if that's something you are not bothered about then happy days.

I have thought about it, to the extent I've test ridden an 1190. My offer was pretty similar to yours - 12,300 for an R with full luggage, heated grips etc. But I'm not going for it. The 1190 was pretty good, (I appreciate I was only on it for a couple of hours and that I'd probably learn much more about it over a few days ..) but as FatBob says, it's only really the engine with its top end rush that lured me in. For me, there are other factors in the big picture that the BM (for all its faults) does better.

My advice to you would be wait for the 1290 to come out ..... :thumb2
