This may turn out to be a daft question. But...

...I've just fitted an Autocom to my F800GS, which already had a Zumo 550 fitted. So I've connected the two with a pair of leads for mike and speakers (and the isolation adaptor).

The question is, just how weatherproof are the jack plug connections into the Zumo? Do I just fit and forget, or should I do something else to the connections to prevent moisture getting in, and if so, what's the best solution (pun intended :D)?

I had thought about fitting some kind of shield, just a simple plate, on the two cradle mounting bolts on the back of the Zumo, but don't know if that would have enough of an effect.

On the other hand, since nothing else is provided by Zumo other than the flap to cover the sockets, and since I don't see anything on the Autocom accessories webpage relating to weatherproofing, am I worrying about nothing?

Any comments (although helpful ones preferred) welcome. :thumb

I've got a Zumo 550 and use a tiny amount of silicone grease (not sealant and don't try Vaseline(sp?)) right on the bottom of the plug this stays there for ages and seals it up well, been through epic biblical proportion rain for hours on end with no issues of any sort.

Thanks Andrew, that sounds simple and cheap, my kind of solution. Cheers!:beerjug:
