Those on the 2005 GS... How tall are you?

To add another twist.

I am 5' 4" and 27" inseam. I have the low seat but was allowed to keep the standard seat when the bike was delivered. I am on the very tips of my toes on 3 clicks above standard shock settings. I agree with others that it is mostly a confidence thing. Of course the lower weight and low C of G of the 1200 helps.

Low seat is not adjustable and has fixed mounts. The standard seat on low setting is barely higher as it compresses more than the low option.

I have been using the low seat, but find it uncomfortable after 100miles. I am about to try the standard seat in low setting.

Also, type of footwear and riding gear makes a difference. My BMW savanah boots are stiff and shorten my reach (can't bend my foot), whereas my Gericke Bulson boots are shorter and softer and allow that bend and a greater reach. Similarly leather trousers shorten the reach but savanah (fabric) trousers allow extended reach.

If you can get the dealer to throw in both seats then you can take your time making your mind up.

Caps...

other seat issues
first of all, my dealer is going to charge me for that lower seat... so he better give me both
but.....
the sargent seat... it was more slippery......
and that was GOOD, because it allowed me to move off the center of the seat at lights to get more of my left foot on the ground and leave my right foot on the brake

the stock bmw seat/or the low one.....
much too GRABBY..... making that more difficult/especially when you are sweating

i guess i should just forget about that low seat altogether....
i had a feeling it wasn't going to be that comfortable
i just knew it
so....
the sargent it is
and forget the low one....

greg

go out there and ride on that regular seat when you cn and let us know what you think about your comfort after a long trip

thanks

i know this comes up often... but i just wanted to know about the height issue... the GS has always been my dream bike/i've ridden about 100,000 miles in my life/currently on a K1200LT

i'm 5'6" (168cm)
inseam = 28" (71cm)
i know there is a lower seat and lower setting for that lower seat
anyone else out here that height
i feel confident on bikes, but i don't want to put myself in a dangerous situation

thanks so much in advance
