Hi guys,

I've been on this forum for some time, both pre and post purchase of a wonderful 800gs and thought it about time to say hello and actually contribute rather than just read it!

I was out in Uganda for 7 months last year and picked up the biking bug (along with the Malaria bug) whilst riding an 1985 Honda 250xr which was by far the best way to get around (epic rides out there).

Anyway I hope to return to Uganda within the next couple of years and in the meantime needed a new toy to play with hence the GS. I hope maybe to take it back to Uganda to run it there full time, but that is tbc depending on my time with the bike whilst in the UK. It's basically down to the reliability and the dependency on computer chips, electronics etc... - not good in a place where you can only fix something with a spanner...

I am tentatively 'Africanising' the bike but we will see, in the meantime, thanks all for the great advice (that you have unwittingly supplied me!) - the forum is really addictive!

Next thing up for me to do is a decent chain, some crash bars, scott oiler and maybe some panniers...!

Cheers,

Baggy

Yeah I kinda knew I had posted in the wrong place and feel free to move it but I'm far more loyal to the 650/800gs guys than the rest... want a direct introduction! :beerjug:

Don't worry, I did the same. Lurked here for a while, felt part of the forum, so contributed. Soon got re-directed to intro by Paddy. I'm sure he'll be along soon.
