Thoughts on Draggin Jeans (or other brands)

I have Draggin and Rokker rokkertechs. I went for a slide down the road a couple of years back , i was wearing the Rokkers , hardly a mark on them.

Roadskin Taranis single layer AAA rated jeans, with stretch fibres as well. Fit like a pair Wranglers. It's rare I wear anything else on the bike these days.
Like helmets, find a decent pair from whichever brand fits you best.
Another for Roadskins, agree it like wearing wranglers or levis, most comfortable bike jeans ever, prefer these to anything these days 👌

There’s a good article on the Hood website about the pros and cons of single layer vs double layer bike jeans. Not surprisingly as it’s Hood they argue strongly in favour of double layer. I’ll find it if I can.

I had some hood jeans, loved them but when it was proper hot the Kevlar layer was sticky and horrible and actually quite painful, you really needed a base layer under them, although I think they’ve fixed that now with some sort of third layer. They are (or were) very well made though. The wife had a pair of Knox single layer jeans at the same time and was always loads more comfortable in her jeans than me when it got hot. So, of we trotted to Motolegends when we were down that way. I tried loads of single layer jeans on (shopping in Motolegends is a very different experience to any other bike shop), rejecting Rokker as too expensive but they eventually persuaded me try a pair on. Wow, a perfect fit and look great. Light and super comfy. I bought them. I haven’t a clue which model they are but not the waterproof ones. I’ve just got back from 5 weeks in the Mediterranean area with temperatures in the 30-35c range in the day. They are great and yet with a merino wool base layer under they are ok in uk except on the coldest frostiest days.

I’ve also had Klim Marrakesh trousers. Rokker jeans are loads better.

Short version get to Motolegends or somewhere with a good range of jeans and try jeans on until you get something that fits well and you like.

30 - 35 degrees wearing jeans with a waterproof membrane.........you must naturally "run very cool"

I would be a sloppy mess.

Brands aside , fit is everything. Make sure the armour sits on your knees, not below them ( like me a short arse) . The abrasion resistant fabrics used eg Kevlar Dynema don’t stretch as much as conventional textiles, so try then on, ideally sit on a bike or at least sit down and make sure everything is comfortable and the armours in the right places.
Thats great advice as I bought a pair of cargo trousers for gentle green laning which although comfortable when I bounced at speed face first two things ref decent kit I soon learnt. The Acerbis Plastic Helmet was useless as it flex so easily my face hit the ground and then the knee armour moved which resulted in a broken knee cap and alot of pain for a long time. Needless to say I have the right gear now and a proper gold stickered helmet

John Doe mono cargos work for me. Single layer, they breathe well and I used them for a week in 40+C in Morocco recently without issue. Prior to that I had Revit Lombard lined jeans which were too hot above 30c

Are those Rokker cargo pants made from Polyethylene ? I notice it says UHMWPE ?? Presumably it’s fully tested an CE rated kit ?

If so, I’d be worried about the “plastic” material content melting under the heat of friction if sliding up the road.

The RN replaced all our uniforms/overalls containing Polyester fibres after the Falklands conflict for this reason, the kit had a great fit and was easy to launder but just fell apart or melted into flash burns due it’s plastic fibre content.
They’re AA rated .

Mainly cotton

Bought a pair of Merlin Cargo jeans last year, best most comfy jeans I've worn. AA rated, Kevlar fabric and reasonably light with load of pockets. Not an arm and a leg to purchase either.

I think you misunderstood, Rocker do a wide range of riding jeans, only one of which is waterproof. The rest are made from a very comfortable and cool mix of cotton and Kevlar type material - watch Motolegends videos for more detail than you need on this. They are more comfortable and cooler than regular jeans imho.

Well I bought arseys rokkers and I think they are brilliant, cool enough but still feel substantial enough to look after me if I have an off.
