Think my battery is faulty ,it gave up while away last week , just glad I had a set of jumpers and the 1150 fix on starter . . So thoughts on a new battery ??? Many Thanks . Geno . :nenau:nenau

Westco is good. Motobatt is as good apparently and likely cheaper.

Before you change the battery, you have checked the terminals are tight and the charging light on the dash is not lit? If that is okay then I would do a few tests on the battery & charging circuit first, which can be done with a cheap multimeter. 3 readings will tell you a lot. Static voltage in the battery without the engine running, 12.5V okay. Voltage with the engine running, lights off, 13.5-14.5 okay. Voltage with the engine running & lights on, 13.5 okay at idle, rise a bit if you open the throttle.

I have no thoughts on the Westco - 2000 bike second battery an Exide Gel. The OEM Exide expired 4 years ago its demise took a full year with increasing frequency of ABS start up faults. 9 years on the original BMW badged Exide - why change?

Ive been using a Westco for the past year, no issues at all, slightly smaller but fits well. Previously I had the OEM exide Gel and that did the job ok as well, but suprisingly began to give up after 3 years.
The original 'wet' battery lasted 7 years.
I guess you can really take your pick, but would avoid the cheapo ones.
