Anyone else had the throttle not closing fully on their 1200 LC GSA? I noticed this week that when starting the bike from cold it revs up to around 4k rpm.. Once warm it holds around 2k when it should be between 850-1000. Makes downshifting on the quick shifter a challenge without forcibly twisting the throttle fully off? I've done the basics with WD40 but makes no difference? It's booked in at the dealers on Thursday (extended warranty) so hoping they will sort it but keen to know if anyone else has experienced the same thing?

Are you suggesting it’s the mechanical action of the twist grip at fault, or the electronic “ride by wire” function at fault ?

No idea to be honest, I can twist the throttle off and the rpm returns to normal but as soon as I let got it jumps up to 2k rpm.. Could be the mechanical action of the throttle or the FBW?

I would try loosening them off , you never know , could have got a bit of grit or such like in there.

Throttle grip assy fubarred, or the wiring from the grip assy to the loom

both are repair parts

My throttle grip assy & loom failed on my 2016 at 38k and 5/6 years but my fail symptoms threw a CEL

You're probably right Santa, just been out to start her up and got an Engine control warning and it's now in limp mode... Sounds like a throttle sensor...

Blimey that was quick
Yup, BMW Assist arrived at 0745 this morning. Hooked it up to their PC and confirmed throttle sensor problem. Tried to reset but couldn’t so arranged recovery, an hour later it was on the back of a van on the way to Bahnstormer. Got a call from them around 1630 advising they have the new throttle grip assembly and it’ll be back with me tomorrow. All covered by the warranty…

Funny, every time mine was recovered there, they either lost it!
Or quoted a 48hr breakdown window before i got any feedback
You must be special lol

I've had a few bikes from them over the years and do pop in there quite regularly...
