Fancied a pair of Rukka apollo gloves... they're around the £170 mark here...

Ordered Sunday from bikerland.de for £116.21 posted

Plenty of updates from company including DHL tracking number ... and they're here already :bounce1

That's a big saving, and super fast delivery from Germany :thumb2

I've been looking at a few of the German bike shops on line. Your right, Lots of big savings on Rukka and other brand names.
Good service and replies to email questions.

Cheers Dave.

rukka armas jacket from germany 16 months ago for under £700 when they were £1095 in the uk

Bought a pair of Sidi Adventure boots from them - even after shipping it was £80 saved and better comms than most.

There are some cracking savings to be made by buying from Germany, not just on bike related gear.:thumb

I bought some premium vodka and gin online last night, and saved over 20% after shipping to the UK.:beerjug: They also emailed me DHL tracking details, so I can keep an eye on my booze.:D

Yes Bryn +1 I have use them for a few years now always spot on, me and Tosser Saw visited them also a couple of years ago and bought some stuff. Good thing for me is they have " Big Tosser" sizes and in quality gear I have some Stadler Pants en-route right now. Good thing is apart from the savings if you need to return goods its cost you €9.90 delivery DHL and same to return sor around €20 you can spend that pissing around in UK shops who don't have stock and seem to be too much trouble or low end garments!

Does that include UK Excise Duty at £28.22 L/Alc? i.e. £7.90 per 70cl at 40% abv.

why would there be duty? germany was in the EU last time i looked.

All is not rosey.

I tried to buy a Kahedo seat for an R1200RT on their German site and was referred to the German Touratech site. It however only posts to Germany. When I asked Kahedo to help as the item in Germany was £115 cheaper than on the UK Touratech site they declined to comment.

Maybe if someone knows a work round......

If it's being sold into an EU country as a commercial operation I believe that it has to be sold "duty paid in the country of receipt". Otherwise every spirits retailer on the web would be based in Portugal or somewhere else with excise duty around 1/5th of the UK level which, scarily, is actually cheaper than Denmark and Sweden.

Yup,Bikerland are great.

I've just bought the Rev It Everest pants to go with my jacket I bought a couple of years ago.

They retail at over £ 400 over here but was £257 from Bikerland, delivered !!!

The more I think about this the more I don't understand.

The VAT has been paid, but not the duty, so if alcohol or cigarettes are imported from, say, Germany, duty would be payable in the UK

But what about other things that attract duty? I've frequently bought cameras and lenses from on the internet, when they come from the US I have to pay duty, but not when they come from Germany?

Is it just alcohol and cigarettes that are exceptions to the free movement of goods?
