TIC whats the meaning

Hi can you good people tell me the meaning and the difference of TIC i.e. r80TIC am I right in thinking ex police?

It was police, armed forces, Civil services etc. same spec was issued across the world.

Basically an RT with a drum braked rear wheel.

Thanks rob did they also come with spoke wheels as I have picked up an r80/7 1981 with spoke wheels and all the pics I have seen they have snow flakes engine number is 6210419 so what does TIC stand for.

The UK Tic machines generally had spoked wheels. I think this was sparked by the problems with snowflakes at the time. The front hubs are hard to find as they only appeared on the TIC bikes and as an option on the CS machines. It's narrower than the pre 81 wire wheel hub to allow the spokes to clear the Brembo calipers.

I've no idea if it's the official definition but I've heard it stands for Touring Integral Cockpit.
