Has you have probable guessed from the title of the thread i’m looking for a new set of tyres for my R1200gs 2011. After a lot of research on this web site & others i can not find a definite answer, the more i research the more confused i become. At the moment the bike is running Metzler Tourance. I’m after a 100% road tyre because i will never be riding on any other surface than tarmac. I ride in a progressive manner in wet & dry conditions and try to avoid has many motorways & duel carriageways has possible.
I have narrowed my choice to 3 brands;

Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail (Tyre dealer tells me that they are the best wet weather tyre on the market, his opinion)
Dunlop RoadSmart II
Continental RoadAttack 2 EVO

What do you guys think i should go for, What your tyre of choice?

Cheers
Phil

I'm fitting the tourance Next on Monday, more road but still aggressive tread.

Road Smarts for me Good in the wet too They just have the edge on Conti Road Attacks imho

I've used all 3 of your choices. They'll all give you more grip than you can use.
I like all 3, but the Michelin is rated in the industry as "Best in the wet".
I like the Conti's.............
You'll have to make your own choice.

How many miles do you do per year!
How many miles are you expecting from a set of tyres?

I too am about to change rubber, ran Tourence for the last two sets on the GSA, first front lasted 7k current front ( same tyre) has lasted 4k, never missed a beat but 4k aint enough for me, ordered a set of PR4's. See how they go

I'm running the Conti RA 2 Evo's @ present; superb performance in the dry, and after a couple of days riding in torrential rain in the UK & France.......they're bloody good in the wet too!!

Not sure about wear rate yet, as they've only been on for 2.5 months.

I've heard excellent reports on the PR4 & Roadsmart 2 as well....

Conti,s are superb tyres had them last year got Avons at mo,but a recent puncture wrote my rear off managed to get another part worn Avon but will buy Attack or Michelin soon as they wear out more 😎 depends what's on offer ?

Conti's for me too, but then I can get 14,000 out of a set! So a new set every 3 years.

Decided to order a set of Conti Road Attack 2 Evo’s. It will be the first set of continental tyres i have ever used on a motorcycle. I have been quoted £212 fitted they will be the cheapest option.

I have just fitted a pair of PR4's to my 2011 TC GS and wow what a difference to the half worn Tourence's.
Turn in better and brilliant feedback IMHO.:blagblah
I am now off to Spain on the bike for a week so will have an even better idea when I return..........Adios :D
